Hmm, Tyler Rockwell was CU's producer for almost 7 years, leaving the firm in March 2020, right after the announcement of their 2nd game. (and after missing the 2019 target date)

Tyler has successively taken over the producer role. He was actually employed as an environmental artist/content manager, see https://citystateentertainment.com/the-team/

Regardless, MJ runs this show, he's accountable and who's been "lacking" for a very long time.
In my opinion, no. CSE simply does not have the right staff to fill all the positions. There is not much MJ can do except advertise jobs.

According to CSE he served as their Producer, which is the same claim he makes in his current bio.

Seems to have been "demoted" since leaving the team.

Yes, he served as their producer, but he was not hired as such.

Quote from the link you've posted:

Tyler has been an Environment artist in the games industry for over ten years, slowly gaining more and more responsibility. He now acts as our Producer and Lead Environment artist pulling double duty supporting the team at CSE while building trees and dirt textures and what not.

Also, in a livestream (if I remember correctly) he talked about stepping more and more into the role of producer and having less and less time for his original responsibilities. Or, to put it another way, he had to learn the job of producer from scratch. Which brings me to my original statement:

And a good producer has been lacking at CSE for a long time.

    good = experienced

I think this is a bad time to try and make this argument.  We have more than one or two new IPs/types of games coming from AAA studios while crowdfunded MMORPGs left and right are failing to deliver a product that more than 10 people want to play, or even delivering a fully realized product.

Crowdfunding increased the risk for consumer considerably, and it hasn't "revolutionized" the industry by showing just how awesome the indie devs are.  It's had some good titles, some bad, and arguably made them cost a lot more to consumers as consumers start footing bills producers used to foot fully.
I'm not really criticising AAA studios mate, they make the most of the games that I play. But the other types of games that I also like, are not getting much love from the AAA studios for the past decade. New IPs aren't MMORPGs. And the one that was, well, I liked it and played it a lot less than many other early-access games, and ironically, it even had more bugs.

Obviously I can't force AAA studios to make MMORPGs, I only can support the crowdfunding projects, that is the only choice I have to help something I like become a reality. The other choice is well not support them. Which is a choice millions of people are making every day. The total amount of monies raised in all of crowdfunded games of all time don't even make up for %0.5 of the video-game industry revenue in 2021 year.
Curious where you got that percentage.  There was over $234 million equity crowdfunding dollars thrown in America alone in 2020, and around half a billion if you include the reward-based crowdfunding: https://fitsmallbusiness.com/crowdfunding-statistics/#:~:text=Since 2016, when the Securities, increase of 77% from 2019.

Again, that's in America alone.  2020 total PC gaming revenue worldwide was only $37 billion U.S. dollars.  The U.S. crowdfunding revenue alone (if equity crowdfunding is included, that is) is over 1% of global 2020 PC gaming revenue for 2020.  I find it hard to believe crowdfunding revenue contracted that much year over year.

Regardless, the percentage isn't very relevant if we're merely discussing the merits of spending money on promises from devs as a consumer, and whether that's a positive or negative net effect on the industry.

That is the total amount of crowd funding not just for video games isn't it?

I think you're right; upon re-reading, it doesn't specify video games.  Thanks for pointing that out!

Do you have any information more specific to video game crowdfunding?  I saw an article that listed crowdfunding revenue for video games on Kickstarter only (~23 million), but I haven't been able to find a solid number for video gaming crowdfunding in general, in the U.S. or globally.

Sadly no, I can look for it. I just did a quick math of super bigger projects. But you are right, it doesn't matter that much. My point was that crowdfunding isn't really a big part of industry total revenue.

The reason I like crowdfunding is that I have done projects for the cities around the world with the help of its citizens. Amazing projects. I like to believe a virtual world is also a possibility.

He wasn't. Just because someone does not give a clear answer does not mean it is confirmed. No answer does not mean yes.
If he wasn't hinting at it why did he say that they wouldn't be making it for 2019?

I guess Giant Bomb, Venture Beat, PC Gamer and every other site just made that up about the 2019 expectations.

That or you are dead wrong and he was hitting about the release in 2019 and had to publicly admit it was not going to happen in the video I already linked.

Because he wanted to keep a specific option open? Because he didn't want to put himself in an uncomfortable position? I don't know. The fact is that MJ never gave a release date for 2019. To know exactly why he behaved the way he did, you have to ask him.

And yes, "Giant Bomb, Venture Beat, PC Gamer and every other site just made that up". Profiting from made up expectations is their business model. We're not talking about serious journalism here.

Sigh, doubters be funny. You'll note Ash Kain is noted as a former Producer in the CU team link.

There was also this announcement at the end of 2019 of his joining the COE team. (worst job move of the year I think)

In all fairness, there are several folks in the past dev list who had the producer title over the life of the game's development, who can keep track?

From two recent posts in the CU subreddit it appears Mark is still working through the refund request list, but saying progress is slow is quite the understatement.

I once jokingly said a long time ago refunds were likely to round the one year mark, but there's a good chance come  Feb or Mar some folks will have been waiting over two years.

One request was submitted on Feb 15th 2020, the second on Feb 16th, 2020, with both being paid out on Dec 12th/13th, 2021 respectively.

MJ did send along this personal holiday message in one response,

"\*\***MY NAME**\*\*, Here is your long awaited and overdue refund to Camelot Unchained that you requested. I hope you will please accept my apologies for both the delay in getting this to you as well as for the delay with Camelot Unchained.

I hope this refund finds you and your family and friends well and that you have a safe and happy Christmas/New Year's Eve and that 2022 is better than 2021 was for most of us. Thank you again for your support and patience. -Mark"

I wouldn't put too much trust in Reddit accounts which have only been registered just to make a single post without even providing any screenshots. If you wanna know the real status of refunds - take a look at this Reddit post:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/NotCamelotUnchained/comments/r8vbmx/a_reminder_about_status_of_refunds_as_of_1242021/

It has screenshots and everything in it is still valid as of today, including the fact that Mark Jacobs ignores every post made in Refunds forum section since October.

For the record I have been waiting for my refund since the beginning of March of 2020 and have not received a single e-mail reply from CSE's customer support for over a year despite sending several status update requests.

From what I can see, Jacobs has kind of abandoned his own forums as well.  He only logged in a time or two in all of December and the last time was over 2 weeks ago.  It appears that he has not posted on those forums since November.

As a matter of fact, it looks like he only has 3 total posts since Sept 3rd and 1 of those was about his dog...

Maybe he has his head down working towards some big surprise reveal coming on New Years?

My guess is this an alt account of Dinarian, since it hasn't made a post here in 14 years.

I've got no reason to disbelieve those two folks in the main Reddit page aren't telling the truth, consistent with fact Mark as been working through refunds around Feb 20th or so, makes sense Dinarian's/your March 5th refund date remains outstanding.

I am not a Dinarian. There are literally 1000's of people who requested a refund for their Camelot Unchained Kickstarter backing, which anyone can verify by reading this page: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/13861848/camelot-unchained/comments and I am just one of those 1000's of people.

And the FACT still remains that there are people waiting since February 2nd who haven't received their refunds. They clearly posted that FACT on official forums in Refunds thread, their posts still exist on forums, their names are not changed on forums (which indicates they haven't received a refund). Anyone who has access to official forums can verify this FACT, even people who may not believe screenshots of such forum posts posted on Reddit. Including people who have irrational beliefs in random Reddit posts which were posted by freshly created Reddit accounts and contain nothing but text.

Yes, most people are not aware that Kickstarter will not refund their money and that Kickstarter cannot force companies to do that. I just used the link as an example of how many people have completely given up on this project and want their money back, even if Kickstarter is a wrong place to complain about that.

Of course, there is no right place to complain about this anymore, considering the fact that Mark Jacobs have completely stopped responding to people requesting refund status updates on forums since October, and have been completely ignoring any e-mail requests for even much longer time - last email I got from them was over a year ago, asking me for more information regarding refund and after that they never replied even once, even with simple confirmation whether they received enough information from me. And I am fully aware that it's unlikely for me to ever receive my money back, just like it is unlikely for 1000's of other people (even if they requested it through CSE's e-mail). I am just showing the real situation with refunds, based on actual evidence, not simple text posts.

This info someone posted on the linked KSer page is good to know. I went back and my original plegde email from Amazon Pay doesn't have the transaction ID, my Amazon Pay account info no longer even tracks the transaction, so hopefully KSer can still provide it.

Going to try and obtain it in case I ever decide to refund and before it is totally lost to history.

"Folks, in order to get your refund you'll need to contact Kickstarter support through the Help Center (https://help.kickstarter.com/hc/en-us/requests/new), ask for the transaction ID, and then send that along with your request to CSE support (support@citystateentertainment.com)"

    Really?

I wouldn't put the blame on the people using kickstarter. They probably took the kickstarter at face value. The blame is all on the devs failing to deliver. Pretty spectacularly in the case of CU.
