I personally don't think Blizzard has done a good job with the IP's for a very long time. We haven't seen a new Warcraft title since 2004 with WoW. We've had 2 Starcraft's in the last 24+ years. The last Diablo launched a decade ago.
So many great titles/spinoffs can be made with nothing happening.
I see the potential here much like what Disney has done with the Marvel and the Star Wars IP. A lot of people were complaining monopoly with that but Disney has provided amazing content.

As it should be. Microsoft claims they are buying these companies and letting them operate as normal so why would things change

And if you think M$ does "magically" everything right - might I for example kindly remind you how they for example handled Vanguard: Saga of Heroes ? The early and buggy release of Vanguard was M$s doing.

The only people crying right now are Sony Playstation fans.
No one else cares.
Microsoft might be a behemot in the PC and Cloud bussiness market, but when it comes to the Games market they are not.
There are far bigger players on the market still. Especially in Asia.
Not to mention some real Media behemots in US like Warner and Disney.

First, Activision was like whew, they bought our dumpster fire.
Second, this acquisition needs to be blocked. Activision is the #1 pc game IP in the U.S. With Bethesda and activision, microsoft will own most major IPs.
We got both, but it took some extreme circumstances.
I got my PS5 through Playstation Direct (and had to fight through error messages and server lag for it). We got our Series X by showing up at a newly reopened Gamestop.
