I know TOEE is no MMORPG but since I know a lot of people are waiting for some release such as I TOEE would be an potential time filler.
When I started TOEE is was pleasantly surprised of how many tactical D&D features made it way into the game starting with really numerous waiting for actions modes up to AOE fog/grease spells.
The game has major bug problem e.g. the Monk class seems not to be able to have an better attack chance than 15% even my rogue out damaged him by far.
Some Key quest have fatal bugs e.g. Your are lead into an ambush and the traitor does not switch sides to solve this go back and reenter ambush site if your are lucky some day hell switch sides but his comrades have long been killed by then. Sorta comical but sad for that high price TOEE asks.
Oh btw if you take on NPC with uncontrolled inventories(INV) be careful its INV does not get full because the that his share first all magic stuff going to his pockets but if his Inv is full its lost for ever in the binary trashcan of your rams very annoying!!!
Item Crafting is also in but aside high costs and difficult prerequisites you need rare masterfully crafted items which is okay but not to useful then.
The combats have an refreshing difficulty by standard of other single-player-games but dont expect to much after a little getting used to phase one even gets Endmob fights quickly under control (usualy no more than the first surprise reload).
The GUI has very console like touch to it radial menus which quickly get cumbersome (funny I didnt see any PS2,Xbox announcements) item/spell info are there but really awkward to access somewhat like the old UFOpedia for those who know that old game (somehow I am overlooking? the linking of item and detailed info).
SUM:
All in all a nice game maybe playable after a few patches but defiantly not worth its money atm. D&D fan will have their fun for sure but not before the patches come out.---

If then periods and grammar misplaced are beware to the questions of confused brain hurts them in the head people with understanding none of it.
In other words...what?
In short.
1) NPC Inventories are not controllable.
2) They take their loot share first meaning they almost always get the magic stuff.
3) If their Inventory is full they take the item but since the inventory is full the items get deleted.
This consequence is if you are not aware of this almost all magic items are lost forever.
hope thats clearer.

Well...thats interesting...but in support...here is a good review, its short, but the overall score is 4.5/5 and if the only complaint is no multiplayer...well....I already have my MMO game heart set on another and like to have single player games as well..need a mix of games IMO.
"Looking for an RPG that will really put hair on your chest? Then check out The Temple of Elemental Evil, a hardcore adventure based in Greyhawk, a classic world created by D&D innovator Gary Gygax. If you have patience (and a robust PC), this ones for you.
Witches Brew
Judging by the clean menu design, TTOEEs developers focused on creating the most intuitive control scheme possible. Unfortunately, the results are mixed: While the simple point-and-click navigation system is fine, party members often become separated in towns. TTOEE truly shines in its turn-based combat, the heart and soul of any old-school D&D title. You can easily access spells and skills via slick radial menus, while a color-coded action system makes tactical maneuvers a snap. The addition of D&D version 3.5 rules means characters also have loads of new abilities like Trip and Coup de Grace. Overall, TTOEE rewards the patient; once you learn the rules and grasp the controls, youll be hooked for life.
In the visuals department, TTOEEs environments boast eye-catching details like bubbling slime pools and swarms of butterflies. To see all the graphical details, however, youll need a high-end PC, and even then you can expect some occasional slowdown. As for the audio, TTOEE offers a stirring soundtrack and atmospheric effectsjust disable the irritating party chatter.
Excelsior!
The lack of multiplayer options is a shame, but TTOEE is the best D&D title in recent memory, especially since parties of different alignments (good, evil, neutral) all face unique plots. This all adds up to one monstrous nonlinear RPG packed with plenty of replay value. If youre looking to kill roughly 200 hours of free time, heres the perfect opportunity.

I say as conclusion its good but not without patches... 90 (89.90)is simply to much especialy with the amount of bugs.
Reminds me of Civ 3 also published Infogrammes by the time the patches where out where catapult/missles actualy worked or movement was correctly managed I had beat the game 3 time in hardest mode who cares if a patch is out then.
TOEE is good but my tolerance to bug feast releases and commerical overhypness has been worn thin over the years.

Troika has already released a patch for the game and I know from news on the gamesite and other troika related sites that they're going to continue working on fixing the bugs. It definitely looks like they are on the ball with that. Keep checking for updates. It's a great game already and once they've ironed out the major issues it'll just get better.

Official Patch in build right now:
http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/announcement.php?s=bc2f1a4b04735831afa61ad5a72e936c&forumid=286You know it's pretty #%!$#$! sad when you have to have your PLAYERBASE make up patches because of the companies laziness. I bought TOEE and refuse to play it till all/majority of the bugs are worked out.
I'm tired of buying games I feel like I'm beta testing. "Here, pay full price for our 1/2 finished work so we can get our money now and finish it when we're damned good and ready!"
