I think this game can get shitloads of new players with the new tv-series comming out. Would be cool if they managed to update the enige by end 2022. Game is stil great and comunity is top!

I'm not sure about that. The new TV series will feature ethnic main characters. As we all know LOTR online does not allow for ethnic characters who are dark skinned humans, elves, dwarfs, etc.

Unless the creators are willing to take their heads out of their ass, they'll never allow ethnic characters which would bring in many new players.

Um, my Beorning is a female with black skin, so um...yeah.

I also main a black Beorning.

I don't know what a Beorning is since I don't play, but is it a human? Can I play as a black human?

Beornings are a race/class combo that transform between human and bear forms. Mine is pretty dark skinned, as dark as I could make him.

Regular humans - I don't know how dark skinned you can make them, I've never payed attention. They can be pretty dark, but I don't know if it's dark enough to check your diversity box or not.

To be honest though, if you didn't know what a Beorning was before then I don't think it would matter how much diversity the game has, you wouldn't play it. The game itself is very old, broken and laggy. The reason people keep playing is for the lore and the world. If you aren't a fan of Tolkien's books then you wouldn't enjoy it.

Perhaps ur right. And maybe I should give the game another chance.

The only thing that draws  me back to LOTRO is the lore. Too me the rest of the game needs help.

Community for me. One of the best out there. But yes the lore is a huge plus.

Also like that they are slowly updating the graphics. Saw some new stuff in the starter zones.

I am a scizo misanthrope. So one day I may go BANZAI on your post.
Have not yet though. Maybe there is hope?
Nah there is really none for me or the human race.

SSG May Be Sunsetting SOME or all Lifetime Accounts

Just an FYI - I don't know if you've seen this or covered it, but it appears that SSG has closed quite a few lifetime sub accounts.

There are multiple threads in the forums, reddit, elsewhere discussing members unable to get back into the game. The common thread appears to be lifetime sub members.

An e-mail states that their subscription has been updated (expires in 2038).

Afterwards, said users are unable to login or reset their passwords.

Support requests on the SSG help site have 1 or 2 responses. The first is an initial 'it has been escalated' response followed by a ticket close with no further response. The second is a 'we are unable to assist you' response that appears to be identical between users.

It's possible SSG does not have the support resources, or as many have guessed, they have decided to kill off the lifetime sub accounts without notice.

There are multiple locations if you search, but here's one of the threads on the forums:

    https://forums.lotro.com/forums/showthread.php?649791-Standing-Stone-Games-Customer-Service/page9
Unless they're shutting the game down, which would be the only valid way to justify terminating lifetime subs, hope they enjoy the lawsuits if true.
They could easily have stopped giving lifetime players free points every month, or drastically reduced how many were given.  I still had to buy Moria and Mirkwood as a lifetime sub.  But when they switched to optional subs they really have been generous to lifers, assuming they returned temporarily around that time just to ensure it remained.  I never had to buy an expansion with my own money.  Although I would have needed to spend if the game kept me playing.

And so the idea of them stealth banning all lifetime subs makes zero sense.  They simply have a skeleton Customer Support team and the bean counters don't think good CS is important.
I agree it makes no sense. But they are also owned by Daybreak, so sense has no hold here.

Have to give you credit, DZR.  You managed to combine 'Daybreak' and 'sense' in a single post.  Mad skills.

My guess about the lifetime players is that Daybreak gave SSG some pointers concerning revenue and long-term accounts.  That, or they laughed at the SSG personnel at a company gathering.

A lot of bs being spread on this thread.  Lifetime subs HAVE NOT gone away.  I just logged into my lifetime account and everything was fine.  That linked thread was full of players who were trying to recover accounts for various reasons and then you have people somehow assuming they have all been removed.
