no wonder the grind is insane , RMT is rampant , gameplay is amazing ,and raids are good everything else is "meh"
I'd agree with you on everything *except* 'the game play is amazing' part. To me, the game is mostly moving around, running from quest giver to target, frequently mounting a horse to cut down the time it takes. Then even that is interrupted frequently by watching an animated cut scene.
Vast amounts of moving and frenetic clicking just doesn't hold my attention.

I suspect those who find the combat "amazing" are on level group dungeon and raid runners, for everyone else there's not all that much too it.

yep , leveling is boring as sin , 90% of the time is running around pressing G , dungeons while leveling are cool tho , like i said thats all the game has for it.
because outside that ....
a korean grind game with low % chances of enchanting (at least it doesnt break gear or lvls go down if u fail , any1 remember that type of enchanting lol) to keep u grinding or paying.
and for what? a raid boss /week that u are FORCED to do since there is no other ways to gear up.

I really enjoyed the combat. I stopped playing because the game is designed similarly to Destiny where you have to grind daily/weekly stuff with several characters jsut to improve your main character. To me that design is flawed so I got out before I either got mad or hit a paywall.
The only reason this game reached the popularity that it did was because it had no competition from any other mmorpg releases, and still has no competition. As soon as a new decent mmorpg title comes out, this game will die very quickly.

The thing about title competition these days is it is what is competing with you this month? They don't worry about whats coming in the fall because every game now seems to have a three month sell by date. Anything that stays strong for even six months is exceptional. But I think LA is more sustainable then you think, it weathered ER and I think it will do quite well, mainly because I don't see it having to face the stiffer competition you mentioned as nothing is on the horizon.
I actually liked this game. I was however playing a class I was not good at or rather felt I couldn't perform well enough in. You see when I played PSO2 I was unable to play any class. I mean that really in the sense every class mechanic was totally beyond me with the exception of the summoner. In that class I found I could actually play and contribute in the raids and other group activity and believe this or top the charts. I actually came first in DPS PSO2 several times and got better rewards as a result. There was even a mechanic to get the better pets without relying only on RNG. This was something I truly appreciated.
I could not find that in Lost Ark. There is supposed to be a pet class later on but I quit the game because when you cannot play a game well there is no point in playing it. Perhaps later on I will revisit it.
Maybe they realized what I realized after playing this game for 20 minutes during beta: it's the same as every other Korean MMORPG to come out in the past 20 years, and very dated, and moved on with life because the game is just more of the same nonsense.
That and it was already 6-8 years dated by the time it released here, and played like any Korean MMORPG from 6-8 years ago, which is awful.

I always have hope, but we have yet to have a MMO out of Korea with a decent revenue system. So can the west rest on its laurels? Well DI proves it cannot, if anything the gambling and grind are worse than LA.
