I've been thinking about diving into NMS again.  I haven't played it in a very long time.  It used to be that although technically a multiplayer game, realistically, you didn't really meet many, if any other players.  Is it still like that?  I like games where there is a healthy amount of player interaction.  thx, Marc

Allegedly up to 32 player co-op, only 8 on consoles but the experience appears to be a bit of a challenge to set up at times.

Doesn't appear you will run across many players randomly in the world from what I gathered on a few reviews I just Googled.

I own it but haven't played for several years now, was too lonely.

There are a few scenarios where you'll tend to see a number of other players:
    • The closer you get to the center of the galaxy, the more likely you get to see other players in my experience.
    • The Space Anomaly always seems busy (along with subsequent mission systems).
    • Expeditions tend to be busy along the whole expedition route, but these run for 6 weeks, after large content patches, and aren't always available. That said, a new one should be starting soon now that the Endurance update is out.
Otherwise, in my experience, you'll stumble upon people's bases here and there, but not typically many players outside of the points above (though someone can probably add thing I might have missed). Guess that speaks to the vastness of space.... :)

It's been awhile since I played...I did run into players occasionally but I usually logged out figuring they were there to kill me.....I had problems with space combat, and when the game started allowing VR I could no longer get past the starting screen.
