Three new servers are coming to several regions in New World. After an uptick in activity and even queues this past weekend, Amazon is adding three brand new servers ahead of next month's huge update and the arrival of Brimstone Sands.

Would be so much better if transfers werent allowed for the first few months of a new server.

Agreed, perhaps once the expansion comes out they'll consider fresh start servers.

I think they planned to, but then realized that they may only bring back 1% of that initial base, and the remaining 89% still aren't going to come back. So odds are 2 weeks post launch, they'll look at contracting.

    Kidding!

Still frustrated that the game ended up what it is (Glad some folks are liking it still) just a shame that it cost itself with such a poor first 60-90 days. (How is that still a thing for MMO's ?)

From “dead game” to endless queues. Game has more demand than ff14 or WoTLK because the queues are literally hours long.

A ton of people are leaving ESO after last patch, I have no doubt they are heading to other games, even New World. I am going to go back and check it out again myself. Fuck ZOS.

I'll be headed back for another go at NW, but I'm going to wait for the new expansion to actually launch. Hopefully the dust will have settled by then. I'm not in any particular rush. I don't have dreams of PvP conquest.

Game queues of course will depend on the number of servers per region. If you look at ffxiv, the total for US + EU is 40. Then there's the Oceanic and Japanese areas on top of this.

This server merry-go-round is very tricky to get right, having free transfers makes it nigh impossible to do it properly. AGS showed anyone who did not already realise this last year, just how bad it can get. Hopefully they have learned something from that, but this may indicate that they learnt nothing at all.

For all its faults, New World did lend itself to a gameplay style I really enjoyed. I think my couple hundred hours was actually incredibly fun before the gameplay loop wore off and the more long term issues set in. I was one of apparently many who was planning on returning given the announcement and I'm happy to see one of my major complaints addressed. Wish the transfers were handled a bit differently, but it does make me want to see about returning a bit earlier than patch day.

From what players have said the "core gameplay" was good and they have refined that since then. But a MMO cannot rely on core gameplay alone, they are not games like BR, there has to be a platform of gameplay to keep players interested.

The questing is already being reimagined, that needs to be completed to top level. The raiding needs to be sorted to, I remember this quote from another site "a gorgeous mountain with nothing on top". Why is top end raiding not that attractive?

"Home improvement", sports, simply making the game seem less like a core grind can help too.

Before queue times would be around 5 to 10 during prime time but this weekend queue times were 100 to 200 all day and up to 500 during prime time.

People are obviously excited for the new update and coming back.

Even if NW had 20 millions concurrent players, some people would still spit on the game ;)

And even if the game was a total train wreck there would always be some fanboy ready to defend it to the death. What's your fucking point?

Ridiculous server queues due to small servers is a legitimate concern. While I was interested in playing again after the patch drop, having to wait a couple of hours or more to log in will keep me away. I'm sure I'm not the only one. Same reason I never got into FFXIV, I could never roll a character on a server my friends played on so it wasn't worth it to me.

When a server only holds 2000 people in NW vs FFXIV servers that hold ten thousand plus, it's easy for NW to end up with server queues even with the ridiculously lower population. For a simple analogy, if you have two rooms, one holds 10 people, the other holds 100, which one fills up first? Server queues =/= popularity.

    First, it's 2500, not 2000.

And I like it that way. I gives you servers of human dimension, where you actually play more than once with the SAME people, go figure in a time of "mega servers" and dungeon finders where you rarely see the same player twice.
