It's been three weeks since Dragonflight, the newest expansion for World of Warcraft launched; with the first Season of content and raiding well underway, it is time to finally put a number to this expansion. How does it stack up? Here's our review of World of Warcraft: Dragonflight.

Amazing ...
Wait, aren't you the same guy who gave Shadowlands also 9 ? https://www.mmorpg.com/reviews/world-of-warcraft-shadowlands-review-2000120441
Literally, you cannot be taken serious at this point. Giving Shadowlands 9.0 , one of the worst expansion ever, and this one also a 9 .. well, cool story bro.
Unless, history repeats right? You gave Shadowlands 9 and it turns one of the worst. That's more likely to also happen to Dragonflight.
Great!

I don't know what it is about WoW expansions but they get the most love and hate of any I have ever seen.
Isle flying IS fun. P{rofession revamps (but only for current xpac?) is decent. Not having ANY orders even though I've been near maxxed prof wise since the beginning (why even have the quests(s)). You'll have fun. For a week. Then it's back to attempting to find a worthy nowadays mmo.
What matters is users score. On MC it currently sits at 4.4 out of 10 which is exactly in line with other x-pacs , such as BfA and Shadowlands. Shadowlands has a 2.9 out of 10 in User Score on Metacritic. I assume DF will be sitting at around the same score.
Plus its been 3 weeks since the release of DF, and no .. Units Sold ..yet. As a comparation, in Shadowlands, they announce after like 2 weeks that they sold 3.7 mil....within 24h.
..but if you ask me, Ion Hazzikostas is guilty for everything Retail related in the last 3 expansions.

I will refer you back to my opening paragraph and closing paragraph. What we don’t currently know is content pace and what will come with subsequent patches.
Shadowlands biggest failings had to do with the phenomenally slow patch cycle and issues which came up in later patches. Leveling the first time, and having any alternate path for alts was great initially. The first raid was also great. There were definitely some pain points. Unfortunately the way the industry works, we can’t wait until the end of an expansion to score it. Obviously it would not have been a 9 at the end. But like I said, that isn’t how any of this works.
Pros & cons by their nature have to be short and therefore cannot go into much detail. Try reading the whole review if you want more in-depth things. Additionally, you vastly underestimating how fundamentally dragonriding has improve exploration if for no other reason it allows the to make vastly larger zones and make zones much more vertical than they have been in the past. Thus, greatly increasing the amount there is to explore.
This expansion sounds like a course correction and can't really do much more than improve on Shadowlands.
On a side note, Blizzard emailed me that I'd get a free month sub if I bought Dragonflight. I deleted the email.
Proud MMORPG.com member since March 2004! Make PvE GREAT Again!
We will talk in max 2 months. There is zero ( if you want I can spell that to you ) new content in DF. Z E R O.
I keep hearing "DF is very good" , "DF has lots of things to do" .. from people like you. I always ask them to tell me what "lots of things" they are talking about and "how is DF good". All of them fail to tell me exactly. Just your usual "But .. is amazing. You can do so much more..".
Tell me with a straight face : How well do you know each zone? lol. And tell me all the zone names without google it.

I have to disagree with you. All the content is brand new, you have never played any of the content prior to it launching. Are they short on new ideas? Perhaps. However with the vast years of MMORPG'ing i have yet to see an mmorpg reinvent the wheel. If you want me to list some of the new things here goes.
1) New race
2) New class
3) New talent trees
4) New solo rated
5) New crafting systems
6) alt friendly leveling
7) New Gear
8) Dragon Flying
9) New Story
10) New Zone
Will the hype last probably not, but thats the state of gaming in general. People play and then move on.
You really picking on someone that can't recall the zones name off the top of their head lol.
I last played WoW when Battle for Azeroth was the latest expansion, and leveling was a miserable experience then. It's not that you couldn't do it. It's that after you got your first heal (e.g., at level 6 or so, though it varies by class), everything was tuned to be way, way too easy.
I understand that Shadowlands shortened the leveling process a lot, but I haven't seen anyone claim that it was fixed. Shorter but still miserable isn't a fix. I want playing a game to be fun, not something miserable that you have to slog through.
Did Dragonflight do anything to fix that? Or is leveling a new character still the same miserable experience of slogging through trivial content that it was a few years ago?
1) New look
2) New rotation
3) Sure, part of #2
4) Not WoW savvy enough to know this one, sorry
5) Okay, this might be something!
6) Well, not exactly new content. they just let you level faster?
7) Okay, but it's going to be the same content just new fashion and numbers
8) New method of flying, but flying itself is already there if I remember Outlands correctly
9) again, i dont know if i count this as something new per se. The new Cinematics I am sure will be cool, but I thought the original comment meant mechanics
10) See #9
I think #4 possibly and #5 would count as new. I don't recall how much aside from raiders care about crafting in WoW. I last played during Cata so I been out of it forever. I do think from time to time to going back and taking a look around
Edit: I guess all of it could be new since he used the word "content". Mechanics came to mind when I read that and I just went from that perspective, incorrectly it seems
That alone should bring the score down to a solid 7.

So there you go. It has new content by definition. Period. End of the stupid argument. You may not like the content. The content may be very derivative of previous content. You may find it boring, and unimaginative, but unless you enter the new zone and it's literally Shadowlands, then well... sorry... it's new content. It doesn't mean it's good. It doesn't mean it's worth the price of the xpac + sub, but it is new content.
