PC optimisation too poor for me even to consider buying, but of course down the line that could change.

Like every dark souls game - absolute garbage, i don't know why people enjoy these types of games. Like, Shadow of Mordor is LEAGUES ahead of this crap. Especially on hard difficulty.

I've played Wo Long since day-1. Got it on GamePass. Glad I didn't have to sink $70 for this crap. The first boss takes you like 30-40 minutes to beat because he's literally at the end of the tutorial zone. You learn his patterns through trial and error and you move on. Bunch of silly bosses follow and then you have a super strong boss that you'll be stuck fighting for an hour or two until you get all the timings down and for what? You're never going to see those patterns, you haven't gotten better, this fight won't make anything easier ... it's just there to gatekeep you.

I don't understand the fascination with these games. Repeat the same thing over and over until you beat it and never face it off again? Where's the fun in that? And beating those bosses doesn't really make you any better at the game. You just learn bunch of timings and patterns and on the very next boss you are garbage again.

Speaking of timings and patterns, at least in the actual souls game those things are somewhat consistent. In Wo Long? That shit is random AF.

Also if you get screwed by the RNG (which for some reason I always am in any and every game that I play) boss battles just become that much more difficult.

I was literally stuck on the the Aoye boss for quite some time. I had to watch a YouTube video on it for general strats because nothing I tried seemed to work. So I'm watching bunch of vids about it, people doing the same shit that I am doing, however they deal 2x sometimes 3x more damage than me with similar weapon style. Ain't that refreshing :D .

Finished the game but literally the final battle is easier than the Aoye, like wtf.

The magic system is broken. It doesn't explain shit to you you, just have to sort of figure it out.

And oh god the cinematics. This is the worst english dubbed game I've ever seen. I've seen porn with better dubbing. Come on guys ....

The rating this site gives this game is more than generous. It isn't a 7, more like a 5 if you have nothing better to play.

Ah also the NPC recruitment system is total crap. On more than one occasion I've WISHED to be able to dismiss my follower. They literally just slow you down by eating the critical attack from the bosses, which like I said are random and it takes MINUTES sometimes (if you are unlucky) between crit attacks. And when my follower eats that attack I know It's going to be a slow kill, possibly a fail attempt. They take aggro off of bosses and you can't counter thus you can't deal damage to health/spirit. Absolute garbage tier game.

Ran well on the xbox though. The loading times didn't feel insane. It was slower than Hi-Fi Rush for sure but nothing too blatant. The animation after death was more annoying, like it takes forever until the screen turns black and you go into loading.

Good review. I am in love with Wo Long and would rate it much higher but it is in no way perfect. The gear/elements of magic dynamic is much more restrictive then it seems at first and not playing by its rules will leave you gimped. The diablo like loot is pretty much unnecessary, especially all the passive modifiers which help but not really all that much. It is clear that system was ripped straight out of Nioh but it makes much less sense here.

On Series X performance during gameplay is solid but cutscenes are all over the place and when a game is able to obliterate you in two seconds flat loading times really shouldn’t be that long. On the other hand, I have seen many comments about how the game doesn’t look that impressive, I think it is bloody gorgeous.

Wo Long is difficult but that difficulty is not consistent. The General of Man first boss is a serious challenge which will teach you how to play the game the hard way, without explanation. After that it is quite easy. Until you meet Lu Bu. That is another part of the game where many will quit. Strangely enough I didn’t find Aoye all that hard, its hitboxes and reach are somewhat poorly visible but that was about it.

The morale system is genius encouraging exploration and the follower system is pretty much unnecessary, although it does help in the second Lu Bu fight. Yes, you will face him again. But that setting, that combat system, when it flows it flows like nothing else and the Ninja Gaiden, Sekiro and Nioh influences are so clear without feeling like a copy cat. It truly is its own thing. Splitstream is somewhat right though, it is a soulslike game which means that to many it has zero appeal. I am not one of those and a massive Team Ninja fan to boot so to me this is as good as it gets. Except Lu Bu, have I mentioned him already?

'the only way he could nail it any better is if he used a cross.'

    Kyleran on yours sincerely

'But there are many. You can play them entirely solo, and even offline. Also, you are wrong by default.'

Ikcin in response to yours sincerely debating whether or not single-player offline MMOs exist...

'This does not apply just to ED but SC or any other game. What they will get is Rebirth/X4, likely prettier but equally underwhelming and pointless.

It is incredibly difficult to design some meaningfull leg content that would fit a space ship game - simply because it is not a leg game.

It is just huge resource waste....'

For me it would crash after each mission/level/stage. At one point I just gave up restarting the game.
