The specifics of their contract have never been revealed, as far as I'm aware.  Maybe they'd be allowed to continue after Amazons's MMO releases.  But it seems unlikely.

Hopefully for fans it will exist at least until Amazon's does release though.
There contract is revenue driven and yearly.
    Not surprising if true.

Google maps OK.  Whatever dude.  If you are trying to get unbanned that won't happen.  they don't care.  And they honestly suck.

BBB is worthless so I don't know what you expected there.

You're only recourse is to taking them to court or get payments reversed.  As those are the two avenues I know people have taken.  You'll need some good records for that though, especially if it was a lifetime account.

I'm come to a closure on my 14 years of playing Lotro. After Rohan, they began implementing the treadmill token grind. It was a sad way to play Mordor but I did it and the ring was destroyed. I would say too anyone, after Mordor, the games literally done.

Yeah.  After being bored with Rohan and Gondor they upped their game for Mordor.  I only play for a few weeks every year and use my lifetime points on unlocks.  The LI grind requiring you to do old content for tokens was too much.

I've only briefly tried the new LI system.

I'd play more if they kept accounts secured and didn't ignore legitimate victims of hacks.

There is a private server up somewhere with the original systems on a specific vanilla client.

I would have laughed my ass off if they had said that it will be years before Amazon can put the new game out and they will have to get further than they did on their last attempt before SSG would need to become concerned.

A good point is Amazon may still hold the assets already created by the first run.

Year LOTRO has nothing to worry about now. That game is a long way off.

Has to be a game first. They already cancelled the first one that was rumored to be in the works. Even if it were to get close to release, they could also axe them like they did with the other 2 games that were supposed to debut with New World. AND even if it does release, it could still be buggy as all hell like New World if they never decide to address their stupid engine or switch it all together. Kind of sad seeing how much money they had at their disposal for New World but it takes them 2+ years post launch to get around to adding mounts and a raid boss (not even an entire raid, just a damn boss in a separate instance). Its not to really say that their publishing side of things is fairing any better looking at how they've been handling Lost Ark, but I'd kind of trust that more than their development side at this point. They honestly should just buy up SSG and double the size of the team in order to make the new one while giving the old one more upgrades. Can be like an Everquest 1/2 situation.

Did LotrO make any statement on the first time Amazon announced the game ?

Probably not as Leyou held the license and was developing the game.  Amazon was brought in to handle the US publishing.

I don't think they did.  There was plenty of comments both here and on the Offical and Steam forums.

Enad Global 7 acquires Daybreak (and Standing Stone Games) for $300 million.
EG7 reported it's Q1 2023 revenues were $54M US, a 43% jump over Q1 2022 and Daybreak (and SSG) brought in 42% of it for the company in Q1 ($19M US).

"Middle-earth Enterprises sends cease-and-desist letter to LOTRO rogue server project"

They still have their website up, but it hasn't changed since it was first put up last year and with MEE against them I doubt if that game will ever see the light of day.

As someone who plays on private WOW servers from time to time, those letters only matter if the servers are in a country that respects US copyright laws.  Companies have the send those letters to show they haven't abandoned their rights to the property.

The last I heard their server was up and running.  And it's not like their source will go poof.  They will just hand it to russians or others who know how and where to host them.

I wouldn't trust SSG with babysitting a rock. I hope that who ever sold Lifetime game accounts to gold farmers gets caught, arrested and at least fined.

These are the worst developers in mmo history, they've done everything in their power to become the bottom of the barrel with countless BBB reports and now a complaint to ic3.org.

MMORPGcom shouldn't even give these theifs the time of day.

It's a playable game with a small, but active playerbase, which is more than I can say about a lot of the shovelware out there. I'm not saying SSG is perfect but I think they're pretty good for a small studio that refused to die. Maybe calm down with the worst ever and thieves (sic) accusations, unless you want to actually explain what you're mad about?

I've already posted it in the LotrO forum section. I'm not mad, I'm infuriated.

So your account was compromised and your first thought is that the company sold it to gold farmers and you provide no evidence. It must be easy to get infuriated when you just make up wild and crazy scenarios and assume they're real.

I've sent the complaint to IC3.org As the account is still active with someone else playing it. I hope people take note of those who support SSG. THey very well be apart of the account stealing operation.

IT wasn't just me, many lifetiime owners have filed reports to the BBB and I would tell them to also file with the IC3.org

You know that accounts get compromised without it being a cartel? What makes you believe SSG is behind it? My account was created a few months after launch and is still active and in my control, even though I've taken year+ long breaks. Odds are, you just got hacked. It sucks, but you aren't providing any basis that SSG is involved other than that you're mad.

There was a data breech back in 2016?  Going after the life time accounts would make the most sense as they'd be worth the most.

Not gonna lie, I'm gonna laugh when these clowns lose their IP license. They don't deserve it. They have squandered it.

They've never been honest as a company, always with the half-truth doublespeak going as far back as "The Month of the Hunter" (one of their very first "fix-it" balance updates). They lied about their relationship with Daybreak and EG7 when they became SSG. They have vomited half-truths about addressing issues and doing better for going on at least a decade now. They're horrible to their developers, letting them take the blame and brunt of the criticism for what amounts to horrible executive leadership from the get go.

Not that I think AGS is going to pull some epic game out of their backside, especially given how bad Rings of Power flopped, which makes me wonder if their motivation for developing the game is still as strong. I just think at some point Embracer (who owns the licensing now) is going to want more money from SSG than they're willing to pay. It will kind of be a SWG all over again.
