I don't understand why the race HAS to be season 0. Why not start with season 1 when it launches in a month? that way everyone can participate and you can't pay to start the race early.
I don't think it's a conspiracy theory to say it's to get more people to pay the extra $20.
Its already "fixed" ..
..but that's not the point. One does not go left and right crying P2W a 4 days head start.
I'm hoping the launch events in D4 are low key or work with natural progression so they don't distract or derail the campaign as it's meant to be played.
There really isn't much happening in-game as a launch event other than some silly HC race to 100 for those who enjoy racing... the first 1000 HC level 100s get their names on a statue at the Blizz campus... I can just imagine all the creative and tasteful names on that statue.
There's nothing else planned for launch in the game that I'm aware of.
They have external things planned of course like launch parties in Vegas and other cities. That's their main "launch event" focus. It's mostly external and not in-game.
But I guess it can still be criticized for being a P2W event because of the 4-day head start for Deluxe and Ultimate edition pre-orders.
Stop it already with the non-sense "P2W" because early access. You do not win anything.
The meaning of P2W is that you buy IN GAME POWER with real money, such as currency, items, etc.
Calling 4 days head start P2W because of an event which craves your name on a statue is delusional.
I said it can be criticized for that, not that I'm doing it lol.
I am not saying it , but .. I can say it...right ?

Dude, there are thousands of posts on Reddit, on the D4 forums, on Twitter and multiple clickbait streamers like Asmogold are saying it.
And they have a point - a tiny, trivial point IMO, but one nevertheless, You can't deny that a 4-day head start for a race to level 100 is not an advantage or that it cost extra
Don't be such a blind fanboi that you even pick fights with those who love the game and have paid extra to start on the 1st... like me.

The four day head start would worry me more in terms of what it means they will do down the line, does one tiny step to P2W mean much? You just can't tell at this stage but players are right to twitch their antenna.
I think after DI anything they do which can be conceived of as a step towards P2W gets players jumping up and down ((remember the mounts? )) but so far I think reaction to anything they have done is far more done to player reaction over DI that what D4 actually is actually doing. Which, lets be fair is understandable.

How so? The last I heard is you can start the race four days early. On a race limited to 1000 people over a playerbase of 30 million plus most likely.
Pay $20 for a massive advantage in the hardcore race. That's P2W

The entry fee for the Boston Marathon is $225 ($235 for foreigners). Is that pay to win?
If you want to keep things "fair" then everyone would need to play on the same hardware and the same quality connection. Are you worried about that too?
Sometimes sports and sports-like competitions have entry fees and equipment costs. Anyone wanting to compete has to pay them. Hardcore players pay more.

The race isn't limited to 1000 people. Anyone can race. Only 1000 people will get a reward.

No, I don't know what you mean then. What did you mean by the race being limited to 1000 people over a playerbase of millions.

What you mean I would have to pay an extra $10? That's a P2W marathon right there.
