EQII actually is doing pretty well. SWG is being taken over by Lucas Arts soon, so a revival is planned. PS on the otherhand is losing members everyday.

I doubt Horizons will shut down either..... I mean what else do they have to do....they have no other games or any in development. plus Horizons was pushed way before it was finished and they have come a long way in fixing the mmo. AC2 was a well made game but I thought the gameplay was a downgrade from AC1 (gotta keep your fan base happy or you wont survive). SWG is hurting and I see it going before Horizons or sold out to Lucus Arts. EQ2? no way is it dead.
Originally posted by Kromel Star Wars Galaxies will be next, followed by Everquest 2.
Something is definitely going to happen to SWG in the near future, don't know what....
EQ2 ? unlikely, it may not have millions of subscribers but its doing pretty well.
Horizons - the only thing that will shut that game down is a nuclear attack. (they have been through a horrible launch, swarms of bugs, lay-offs and staff reduction 2x, low populations, server consolidation, bankruptcy, and selling the game itself to an unknown game company.... its indestructible!)
Its to bad the guys at Turbine don't have the stubborn tenacity that the people over at Horizons do.

It looks like all AC2 players are getting is a DDO beta account?!!???? WTF I thought Turbine would at least be giving the players free AC1 keys and trials, it's the only way there going to get a few new players anyway
Did they flip the switch on time? Just curious as to how the shutdown went...

It's not over yet. I wonder what they'll be doing on the last day? I haven't been playing but reading the forum it seems the devs are giving out free xp to maximum level 150 and the best loot to keep players entertained these last weeks.
Yep, playing the trial a few weeks ago, I got to level 150 in 3 days Ph34r my uber grinding, actually GMs just give out level 150 to people who go afk in one of the towns, it's a pity AC2 is shutting down, it was really fun the 2 weeks I played it.

It's the end Reading the official forums, it's funny, the servers went down earlier today accidently and they actually brought them back up so people could play a couple more hours. Isn't that nice of Turbine

Weren't the European servers run by a different company?
There's a message up on the official AC2 site now,
"December 30, 2005
Empyrean magic has once again fled this world. The battle for Dereth continues on a different plane now. As his final act in this realm, Asheron sealed every portal to contain the expanding horde and protect what is left of the races who called Dereth home.
As of December 30, 2005 the AC2 service is no longer available. Turbine and the AC2 development team would like to express our thanks to the many players who've been part of Asheron's Call 2 over the years. We hope you've had as much fun playing the game as we did creating it for you.
It's never easy to say goodbye to a place you've called home, but we hope to see all of you in Turbine's other worlds."
Asheron sealed the portal? I thought Asheron was dead in AC2.
And I'm surprised there aren't a few AC2 players on this forum chiming in with comments about the shut down. I guess most people probably quit soon after the first closing announcement, and I guess there were few AC2 players on this site to begin with. But still...

Wasnt AC2 owned by the same company European, and US? Same company that's working on DDO and LOTRO? They closed the European servers early after saying players had untill the 30th.

First, please stop writing in huge green font, it's immensely annoying, and gives me the impression you are an idiot, which I am sure you are not.
As far as I know, (which is from a friend who played on the EU servers) they shut down on the 30th too. I believe Turbine ran both the US/EU servers in the last few months, Jolt had run the EU servers, but I believe the contract expired in September.

No I didnt miss it. Nor did I miss the fact you have nothing further to say about turdbine pulling the plug on the European servers early. I guess that link I provided above cleared up any misconception you might have had.

Oops, I forgotten about those two lame ducks.
No way will EQ2 or SWG get canceled, they have too far to fall. PS has a better chance of being killed.

Methinks a spring clean is in order.
I gave it a rating of 10/10 for a laugh and it went from 7.4 to 7.9. Maybe we can get it to the top and so it will be highest ranking mmorpg of 2005.

Also I changed my rating to 10/10 too
Hah, I gave it a 9.5, goodbye AC2, you ironic little POS. (piece of software)
