Don't see this coming out any time soon. SC v2. Smh.
Welcome to the forums!
Thank you!
Whoo hoo, probably confirmation not a bot.
Great to have new joiners to the conversations.
SC at least let's backers into their test environment on a regular basis...
Oh wait, that's now changing, access going forward will be granted based more on activity rather than simply cash paid.
I personally dont get the constant comparison with SC and any game in development. SC is selling full game earned assets for RL money. People are buying full felts of ships and space stations. I just dont get how that makes a fun or fair game to play?
Ashes has been selling cosmetics hand over fist but its still just skins. You want that skin showing up in game, you need to earn loot to put it on. Ashes has shown consistent progress and showed us the products progress. We see it moving through development stages, we are coming to Alpha 2 soon. SC has made over 300 million bucks and is coming to 14 years in development in 2024. Just seems to be a common insult thats chucked around with no thought to if its applies lol

My main issue with comparing Ashes dev time to SC is it's not really accurate.
In 2017 when Ashes started "actual production", they had between 15-20 employees ( and not all of them were working directly on the game, e.g. a customer support employee, community manager employee, CFO (Chief Finance Officer) employee). Good luck making an MMO with under 20 people.
They wanted 100 employees by the end of 2018, but didn't hit 100 employees until 2021. They hired much slower than they were originally hoping, because why join a no name game company when in the same area there's Blizzard or Rockstar or Riot or any other household gaming name?
Meanwhile Cloud Imperium Games, the developers of SC, are currently at over 800 employees according to their LinkedIn and usually linkedin numbers are lower than the actual number as not everyone uses Linkedin.

Its clear, we like very different games and the ethics of what makes a game. I like my playing the game to matter when it comes to my progress. Not how much money I can use to game the system. Im glad your happy. Only thing we agree on, SC and Ashes are nothing alike. That makes me happy =-)

$300M? Better take a look, they are about to cross the $600M mark for just crowdfunding, doesn't include the investor funds (who are paid dividends from the incoming backer money) in the total.
The "good news" there is they are starting to tighten their belts by not paying for extra test server capacity.

I think you meant 600 Million
If he raised 600B I think he would have bought a small caribbean island and made it his own country to protect him from any legal issues.

You know, you don't have to badmouth Star Citizen to defend "your" game. Specialy since it's a game you clearly don't have any actual knowledge about.
Because when you do, you're behaving exactly like the blind haters that attack Ashes with half truths and misconceptions that you are so much against.

Yep, subliminal slip, even with that much money, its doubtful SC will have released yet.

What a surprise, some tech challenges can't be solved faster by just throwing money at them
AGS can attest to this statement. Heck, AGS can even attest that even manpower doesn't seem to be able to overcome some technical challenges (not like their game had a faulty foundation that they ever want to address or anything).
By the way, if ANYONE believes that this is really the end of them selling access to the "testing" of their game, I have a bridge to sell you. IMHO this is about creating more FOMO and then magically they will have "Heard the requests of the players" and reopen orders.
Btw how much is that bridge going for, just asking for Nanfoodle?

Just saying
One does not need an ancillary reason to badmouth SC. It's very existence is more than enough.

Damn those scientists who haven't solved the pesky anti-gravity issue yet, I mean really, how hard can it be?
Might actually get them before some of these indie MMOs release though.
