This dev team is so stingy with their mechanics.

So in this patch they increase characters armor weight allowance at max level.  They are so swell, 6mo - 1yr after grinding this game you can finally wear that shoulder pad you got at level 3 but had no weight points to wear it.   If you are a tank you cant even wear a half set let alone a full set of armor until ... max level.  LOL too little too late.

Combat speed increase - considering people run out of stamina on 1 mob, increasing attack speed doesnt really do much other than to run out even faster.  Unless they are changing stamina use, I dont see how this change matters.  Another busted mechanic.

Hunting Log - Tracks kills, now you get some stupid title if you kill a bunch of rats.  I never change my title so this is useless to me.  This game is trying to add content and came up with this.  Tracking kills is not content to me.  Meh, not harmful, but maybe a little good for someone.

XP increase after 25, this is probably the only needed thing they did.  Game was super grindy feeling 25+.  More than this however is there is no real gameplay loop after 25 so thats why it feels grindy.  Speeding people up to an end game that doesnt exist doesnt really do anything.  But hey at least someone might be able to wear that shoulder pad at max level.

Overall I didnt read anything that would bring me back to this game.  Right now they are getting 25 people at prime time.  Their team has no clue what the players actually want.

I think they do understand what at least some MMO players want but cannot deliver it. Meanwhile they make tweaks to make it look like the game is evolving.

They are adding things in over time, and not just the trivial. They've added a new zone for example and expanded on enemy variety. New systems have been added. Existing systems have been overhauled. Tweaks is an inadequate descriptor for the work they've done especially with the company having little in the way of resources to bring to bear.

Their patch notes are quite extensive for anyone interested.

I love the game the way it is, so far. There will always be whiners who complain about things that don't meet their needs/expectations, based largely on what they experience in other games. But the devs have their own vision and it will be interesting to see where that takes the game. It is not meant for everyone, for sure.

Word on the street is Embers is about to perform a not so public level squish from 150 (?) down to 30, much to the chagrin of the players who had reached the current cap.

What's your thoughts on that change, all part of the vision?

Word is, the player base and devs all met at the Denny's 12 person "big table" and brokered a deal.

Nah the dev team has no real clue at all.  They listen to a couple of loudmouths and just will not budge on anything important.  They sort of 1/2 way move towards the playerbase on something, while at the same time pushing them 1/2 away.

    • Sort of like, you want fast travel no problem, lets put the portals in the absolute most inconvenient places possible and punish you with rare resources to use it.
    • You want some decent gear, no problem, lets make it so heavy that you are forced to run around naked with only a helmet on.
    • You want some bag space, no problem lets lock a "COUPLE" of extra pack spaces behind huge sums of in game money. (not packs, but pack spaces LOL)
    • You want to keep your inventory after death, sure, you can keep 1 single item, at a cost of HUGE amounts of gold that is way not worth it.

Its like getting backhanded compliments. They love to just piss off the playerbase, because to them they are always fighting their own customers.  I never seen game designers that are so passive aggressive before.  They hate their customer base.

They cant just deliver a win to the customer, make them happy and say its a Win-Win, company wins by having more happy customers.

They want to control their customer so much, they just cant stand being forced to capitulate to their customer.  They say its not about the money, and I totally believe them on that front.  Its clear they are not trying to make a profit.
