They are totally different types of game, so it really depends what you are after in the long run. To be honest its like comparing chalk to cheese it just doesnt work. Personally i dislike Runescape and have never tried A Tale in the Desert II although i have read some decent things about it and how you can build your own world and economy, quite interesting stuff to have in a game really, Runescape on the other hand....is pretty damn boring and is full of immature kids.
