New World's next season will take a little longer to get here. Season of the Guardian has been delayed for additional work, following PTR feedback on some of the major changes, including the overhauled combat and animation system.

Unfortunately, according to steam charts, New World is flirting with dropping under 10k average players for the first time in the history of the game. That's half the players of their low water mark they hit before the Brimstone Sands release which breathed some life back into the game. They're going to need to do something pretty amazing to turn things around or seriously consider shutting down. Such a shame because the game had such potential.

Yup, you got it right. Potential was what kept me playing but it's mostly untapped even 2+ years after launch. I was looking forward to season 5 but they usually release super buggy stuff and then fix after... so if they held it this time (this early) it must have been super bad. I'd rather them test, fix, and then release a solid update. That said, I may not even log in again until that patch releases. (so technically, I'm a part of the player count problem)
