Meh. Still not for everyone. Congratulations I suppose, but turn based combat can die in a fire as far as I'm concerned. I also feel no need to have sexual relations with a bear, so this will never be on my hard drive. I don't typically watch the movies that win best picture at the Oscars either.

you ... don't ... have to have ... sexual relations with a bear.

Can't find the roll eyes emoji for some reason.

As far as turn based combat, that's more "game like" it's true, but it is close to the table top game.

Good game, ya, game of the year, naw. Especially not with that 3rd act. Doesn't matter though, at the end of the day awards mean nothing.

It's called the 'gold award' (i think i remember it being mentioned that that is what the honor is called) - it's something only Elden Ring and Zelda BoTW were the closet to obtaining honors for.

It's just another reminder that we likely will never see a game like BG3 again, ever.

And if we do, we'll be so damn lucky.

I mostly remember the 3rd act being buggy as hell at the time i played because... well it's kind of a massive area, with a crapton of stuff going on.

No idea how smooth it's become over the many patches since release, but after i finish DD2, i plan on starting a new playthrough of BG3 to see all the changes.

By the time I actually got to Baldur's Gate I was kind of tired of the game. I liked it, and thought it was a fun play, but I do think it a bit over-rated. It's no WarTales

I mean, aside specific nitpicks and others, it's not horrible, and some of us decide to be with both the bear-druid and tentacle fiend. Druids are older than the naysayers, and well... some aboriginal cultures involves copying animal positions in hopes of giving strong traits to their offspring. But you do you and keep your childish sensibilities. The world is vast. Animals have been mating and reproducing for a sustained ecosystem, but it's gross once a druid is involved.

To be "GOTY", though, it needs is a sandbox mode. Something that'd be for fun, and something quite interesting for DnD players, and more race options. Simply let players set their character stats and monster encounters and have a battleground. Any other activity such as walking can be done on paper until some hyper-focused, over-skilled individual makes a map-maker of some sort. It'd truly be roleplaying.

I realize you don't have to have sexual relations with a bear. It's the fact that's part of the game at all. On top of that Larian publicly congratulated themselves for putting it in and patted themselves on the back for how woke and progressive they are for normalizing beastiality. Apparently everyone agrees because it's GOTY everywhere. You want to talk about not having an eye roll emoji big enough to convey how much my eyes roll at this game? Well if nothing else we can agree on the fact there needs to be a planet sized eye roll emoji to properly express that emotion. You at me, and me at this game and Larian as a company.

I wonder people who have played both BG3 and DD2 would rate these two against each other.

Dragon's Dogma 2? They are different games and I'm playing both. Dragon's Dogma 2 is more "my thing" as I had originally stopped Baldur's Gate 3 as I kept trying to get some place on the map and couldn't actually get there., Became frustrated so took a break.

My preference is Dragon's Dogma 2 but clearly Baldur's Gate 3 is an excellent game.

Of course it's perfectly fine to butcher and murder your way through a game. They are not real people we are killing but sex with a shape changing druid is simply unacceptable.

I don't think they went far enough. I tried so hard to have sexual relations with the Intellect Devourer. It's a disappointment that game calls itself "progressive" and "expansive" and I couldn't express my affections towards this grey matter. Intolerant. Rolling my eyes.

It isn't about different kinds of games to me it is game of the year type games. BG3 was not a game of the year type game. It was fun but lacked focus, was too buggy for me and the game went on and on and on so much that by the time I got to the namesake city I had to force myself to keep playing just to see it through. It lost focus 2/3rds into the game. (IMO)

I thought Alan Wake 2 was game of the year and did not get the credit it deserved.

WarTales released yesterday and it is not that dissimilar.
