FreeInfantry is a very old game (originally just Infantry, without the "free") that has been around since before the turn of the millennium. It was originally made by Harmless Games, which shut down. It then got acquired by SOE, which ran servers for it for a number of years before shutting it down. I think it has been around in some form since then, but what's new is bringing it to Steam.
I played the game for about two years from roughly 2000-2002, and I liked it a lot back then. I wouldn't really call it an MMORPG. It does have arena battles with up to a hundred or so players, but most zones don't have any real persistence.
Lol, why are you guys promoting/advertising a game that has sexual assualt, etc? Not to mention, it looks like total garbage. Wouldn't it be easier/better to just let the game rot/die in the abyss and be ignored on steam?

Games don't promote sexual assault any more than they promote violence. Further, games with sexual content are confined to adults who should know the difference between fantasy and reality. It is possible to enjoy in the context of the former that you never would in the latter. Those that dislike such material are well warned so they can avoid it.

I didn't say the game promotes sexual assault? I said why are they promoting a game that has that content in it. Which based on the garbage page they linked to the game, is just a shitty asset flip. So there's nothing to worry about anyway. No one is going to buy/play it.

They didn't promote that aspect, or mention it at all. I don't know for sure, but that may have been because they didn't want to get into details on a site that isn't confined to being viewed by adults. Interested adults could then look into it further if so inclined and read the details more suited to them only. Sadly not all have that degree of decorum.
What’s somewhat jarring is that the Steam page lists a Mature Content Description referencing some mature themed assault and – well, let’s just say, they aren’t subjects I’m going to broach here. Despite the listing as “fully launched” the game is still very much in development, but it still seems a step ahead of what The Day Before managed, so I’m going to allow it. Staycation is currently $1.79 USD on Steam, which still feels like a gamble, but if you’re into helping an indie developer, this is one of those times.
^ From the article itself. So yeah they did mention it, and they seemed surprised or not willing to discuss the fact that the content is listed as being in the game. Fair enough. I just don't see the point of showing the game off at all. And by linking to the game, they are promoting it by giving it views/exposure. They don't have to give it a glowing review or say they think it's a great game for that to be the case.
Like I said though, it's a junk asset flip. Nobody is going to purchase the trash anyways.
Hash Oasis does not seem to have even been translated into English and waiting for a few more user reviews might have been an idea for Staycation, but MMOland is what it is.

They are of course giving it exposure. That is what this column is for. Given the content it is good the exposure was limited. As to who will buy it, those interested will at least know to check it out. Whatever they then decide doesn't really matter.
