Couple of tips I wish I knew when I first started:

    - The hellbomb you need to destroy the buildings for the illegal research facility becomes available to call down when you get close enough to the site. I originally thought it was a strategem you had to equip and didn't understand how other players knew they would need it before the mission started.

    - The two Guard Dog drone strategems end up doing as much friendly fire damage as they do kill enemies. I started running the personal shield just to mitigate damage from teammates. You have no control over when they fire or what they fire at, so they will absolutely headshot your teammates or yourself if they decide the nearest bug is a high priority target in spite of someone's cranium being in the way. Don't take these strategems and keep a good distance from other players who do.

    - the evac count down doesn't start until someone gets on the drop ship. If someone just died, call in reinforcements, and wait for them to get close before jumping on. Otherwise that's one less person to extract and less rewards for the mission.

The problem with these service games is once I've missed the start, I have no desire to play. If it's a single player game then I'm up for it, but missing out on the rush at the start with everyone and the community being established etc etc... Just never worth it after missing the launch.

Making it free doesn't even help either, it just means I give it a go and find myself so behind that I stop after a couple hours.

Hmm well maybe you should research this game a little more because you've missed out on nothing by not starting at launch other than some great gameplay moments. Progression is largely horizontal. Every weapon, armor, and stratagem is situationally awesome and situationally not so great. Battle passes never expire so you're locked out of nothing. Nothing is stopping you from jumping in and joining the fun other than your misinformed preconceptions about the game. This is not WoW or some other vertical progression game where if you're not in at launch you get left behind and no one wants to group with you. Oh well, your loss.

Exactly. Lvl10 gameplay is exactly the same as lvl100 gameplay. The difference is lvl100 might be using a gun that you don't have yet. But if you want his gun literally just drop a orbital strike on his ass kill him and take his gun hahahahahahahaha

    Other things worth knowing:
    - medals cap at 250 so spend when you get too close!
    - requisition bucks cap at 50,000 so buy a stratagem every time you get close (eventually you will run out of them and stay capped until new strats are added)
    - super credits max at 3k (not 100% sure on that one but I believe I "lost" a few credits that would have gone over that prior to the last warbond coming out)
    - there are some maps (usually small) where an idiot on your team will start dropping the mortar turret like it's god's greatest gift. the problem with it is that it doesn't check for danger close and in these small maps, sometimes the bugs are in melee range when you're engaging. the mortar will help finish what the bugs started on: you
    - PUGs (i.e., most of the other random people you will play with) do not understand or care about turret placement and will frequently put a turret down where it's as likely to hose players as enemies. look for a crate or other terrain, put your turret on the far side of it so that it helps keep that side clear
    - you can (and should) mute the player that has voice activation on and is listening to music, chewing chips, or randomly yelling across his room.
