Interesting. There has been a lot of buzz on r/fo76, but a cool million is surprising.

People chatting about the show got me interesting in playing again, and I've been wanting to play a casual shooter so I reinstalled. Was going to play FO4, but I'm waiting for the big update to hit console.

Fallout 76 has seen some big changes since I last played (The Pitt DLC). It's more challenging now with more motivation for more complex and diverse builds. I do have a high level Bloody Stealth Commando, but now that guy is building out a few other low health loadouts because that no longer does 99% of all content.

There are mutated world events. These are like Daily Ops mutes, only they apply randomly for world events. The Expeditions have been expanded, and Atlantic City is much better than I expected. The core map is getting expanded in an upcoming DLC update, and a huge chunk of the legacy/hacked gun problem has been addressed. Also, there are now community drop boxes throughout the map where players can share resources and drops with other players.

There are still some cheaters and griefers, and the game still has the occasional buggy crash to desktop or bizarre glitch, but overall is better than it was about a year ago. I'm surprised.

Mostly I've been playing on Private though, not public servers. I can farm XP and resources, and complete quests and expeditions more easily. I need to completely rebuild my main characters CAMP after I get his builds redone.

I started playing fo76 again a few months ago and been having a ton of fun and have definitely noticed even before the show came out more and more new players were trickling in. once the show came out it exploded. i've really enjoyed the new expedition system and the ability to explore other locales that aren't in Appalachia, and I'm especially looking forward to the map expansion in June.

Ah.. the school of fish hive mind, to purposely mix metaphors. I hope the game has evolved enough to meet expectations of all those new fans. Fallout 3 & NV for me.. and disappointment since.

was a play for free week on steam too, which probably had more of an impact than the tv show.

Free week in steam. Free game in Prime gaming. People watch the show in Prime video then get it for free (PC & XBOX) in Prime gaming.

It was obivous there was going to be a great influx of players. Question is how many will stay and pay for cosmetics.

Game is in a way better spot than when it launched but its still missing something to keep players invested.

Once you hit 50 if you have planned well you are close to end game build (around 65 you already have all perks needed) and legendary perks arent really that enticing.

Daily grind to get gold bars for blueprints for the best armor/weapons is a pain and a short legged feature that most players wont even pursue dropping the game after reaching the perk completition and hunt for a good 3* weapon.

I guess the series was really a boon for them. I liked the T.V. series a lot. I have played Fallout 2, 3 and New Vegas and loved them. Fallout 2 might have been the very first PC game I tried after giving birth / house arrest.
