I'm pretty much satisfied with the alpha at this point. There's too much of grind for me now to even consider leveling professions. 

Overall impression of the Alpha with a good 50-60 hours spent: 7.5/10 (They fixed a bunch of glaring problems, but it's still an alpha, so "grain of salt.")

This game is already has a million times more content and size, than Ashes of Creation. 

Also Funcom better make sure that Dune game is up to par. 

I'm looking forward to the next time I'm able to get into play.

I think the challenge for me is that they so far, are still claiming a "Spring 2024" release for "Early Access". So that means less than 2 months.

The game is lacking a lot in it's current state. There is no balancing. Lots of mechanics make no sense. Crafting needs several passes as there are far too many "dead ends" and pointless grinds (Make 100 of item X, failing 70% of the time, gaining no skill for fails, and then just drop the completed items because there is no way to recover ingredients or sell items). Combat is rudimentary. FAAAAAR to frequent to have inventory items disappear on death or even just crossing a zone line. Its fine for an Alpha but not if you start charging a sub.

So far I'm not really seeing the MMORPG part which is supposed to be why we are paying a sub.

That said, it's drop dead gorgeous. And you can catch glimpses of promise in the bare bones. If given time it might develop... but if they really launch "early access" in a few weeks... it probably won't end well.

DAOC was zone based PVP (RVR) and some of the best ever PVP ever.

Yeah, this is nowhere near DAoC though. Its just a zone for FFA killing with full loot. Theoretically because there is a ton of a special iron that can only be found in the zone...

But yes, zone based PvP can be great if implemented properly. A lot better than flag based IMHO.
