Jeez, well there goes my chance to play this mode. Thanks Sony. First you revoke my access to one of my GOTY contenders, now this. They took the crown from Ubisoft with this nonsense.
I want to be able to make the decision about that before I buy a game, not some time later. Requiring a third party account is okay with me if:
1. They're clear and upfront about it from the get go. It needs to be clearly displayed, and I wish there was a click through acknowledging such when purchasing.
2. If a publisher sells a game in a region then they need to support accounts in that region.
3. They don't use that data to sell, rent, or provide third party access to it or the amalgamated results of that data for any purpose. If they want to use it internally to make business decisions, fine. Otherwise, no.
4. They cannot use that account integration for any outside tracking or identity association through linked accounts. For example, they can't use my linked SteamID to track, monitor, or harvest information that isn't linked directly through a game to their platform.
I don't care about multiplayer so...okay......... but still a suck move on their part. This BS of requiring a PS account on PC is just more BS I don't want.....especially when a game is bought from steam which admittedly I dunno if that the case in for this one like say for HD2.

EA definitely is the worst!
Some years ago, I bought Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2, which was for ages 7+.
When I bought the game for XBox for my son, he was so excited to play the game, but that excitement turned quickly into disappointment!
To play the game, even on XBox, you were forced to create an EA account. So I did create a simple account for my son at Ubisoft and lo and behold his account suddenly got blocked several days later by Ubisoft and my son was no longer able to play the game on XBox.
Why you might ask? Because EA support said me they are not allowed to support online play on accounts for kids under age of 13 due to EU restrictions on tracking and selling people's data!!
So EA is selling a game that is for ages 7+, even though they know kids between 7 and 13 cannot play it due to mandatory EA account and regulation restrictions on ages 13 and under.
Instead of disabling tracking on underage accounts, they opt the worst possible method of just outright blocking online play on accounts with no explanation whatsoever! NOT even a warning during the account creation process!
Worse is, they blocked his XBox account in their system as well (when it got linked), so creating a new Ubisoft account with false birth date was no point.
So he literally could not play the game anymore and EA refused to refund too. Even though they were at fault for hiding this information from their customers!
They even refused to unblock his XBox account in their system at that time, so I could link it to another account!

Good, no one cared before but all of a sudden everyone is acting like some account victim.
True, it wasn't an issue until Helldivers did it. Many companies have been doing shit like this since ever. You can't play Sims 4 without an EA account I believe, or at least you can't use their online features. Which is the same for GOT

For me the issue is you have to have both and with Helldivers it wasn't needed at first. With EA games and Ubisoft, I can just use their launchers by themselves.

Mixed UPlay with EAPlay. Will update post to EA (as it was like 6 years ago or so). But honestly, they all do it and they all bad. Not just Sony.
Luckily things gota bit better with the EU GDPR regulation some years ago, as now they have to build in a consent system for all ages.
I have so many launchers on my desk top it is getting crowded. I think it will continue to proliferate. It isn't going to get easier to play games because we are using one platform like Steam to play games. Irony right there.

You need to be on here more...and post more. Just saying.

Not all areas of the world can create a PSN account because of region locks.
