Such amazing graphics.  So lifelike.  I still believe at least one of the actors will have passed before SQ42 releases
Such an original take but people die all the time.

Have you noticed how films, books, games have  messages "in memory of.."

Just remember, We have as much chance of perishing as them with the agravated fact that our likeness will not have been recorded and cherished for as many or for as long.

    Make it worth it  :)

And they will continue to raise even more. Early adopters and crowdfund riskers are a drop in the mainstream bucket. Most mainstream gamers know nothing about the game cause it hasn't been publicized to the masses.

GTA might be the biggest and most well known franchise YET Rockstar still spends millions in worldwide massive marketing campaigns. Huge Outdoor posters and wall paintings, tv and bus stop adds and so on. That's how you reach the mainstream market which is huge.

CIG has done none of that, yet.

Do I need to remind how popular and varied are the actors featured in Squadron again?

At the very least it will be a spectaculat adventure / narrative game and at best a system seller and genre defenitive like Wing Commander.

Well, several of those actors have passed from relevance already.  ;)

Small ships should be run by one player, large ships by guilds, that is surely the best way to run a space game.

How ownership and risk come into play is also interesting and an opportunity for meaningful group/community building systems. Learning the ropes while crewing on vessels you can't afford is something that happens in the real world. I have sailed plenty of times without ever owning a sailboat by volunteering as a crewmate during some of our local races here. Learned a lot, had a blast, and all while I was still living on a student's budget. I could imagine a new player to the game checking some "Crew Wanted" board and serving on a larger ship that way.
This makes perfect gameplay sense, my concern is that this won't be acceptable to the whales playing the game, they bought an expensive humongous ship and they want to play it on their own with that immediacy of gameplay.

This is the old grouping versus solo argument and no matter how much sense it makes that you have to group to do some things in a MMORPG, all we have seen over the years is a drift to solo that has included everything from soloing raids to buying past that content.

It will be interesting to see where SC comes down on this. I understand there are ships designed for a crew which are more easy to crew solo than others. Have a guess where that's going?

    Well, some of them.

The male characters look just like their real life counter parts.

The female characters look like NPCs from Mass Effect Andromeda.

Also, no one cares about celebrity cameos in video games.

Did anyone care (or even notice) that John Cleese, Alfred Molina, Bill Nighy, and Kate Beckinsale are in ESO?

I agree about the whales, and I also think the general focus on one's in-game "performance" has become a factor. I don't mind competitive play, but min/maxing has become so widespread in MMOs in general that it's gating group-play for many people. It's one thing to toss a piece of equipment because you looted a better one, but teammates can't be treated that way. It can slow you down at first to invest in a newer, less experienced teammate, but building trust is a big part of the experience. Unfortunately, that runs counter to those wanting to maximize their individual performance so those systems get trivialized or worked around.

I don't know how any of this will play out in SC though, especially given the wide range of player types from the whales and those who have been playing during development to those who may choose to play it if and when it actually releases. Handled well, that variety could create an interesting environment for group play. Will have to wait and see, I guess.

I was being sarcastic.  Several already look super dated.
