This is one of my favorite RPGs. It is high quality, virtually devoid of RMT (with the sole exception being a deluxe edition cosmetics pack), and offers a lot of player agency respecting how players want to play a wizard or witch at Hogwarts.

There are some excellent quest lines, most of the puzzles are simple or straightforward, and there is some filler content for players who just want to mess around in a world with their character. It gives a little to all kinds of players without really taking anything away.

My only minor gripe is how the Trials are setup with soulsike/god-of-war style combat and tactics. They're well done and reasonably forgiving (more along the lines of GoW), but they're so different from how your mage is played outside of them that it feels awkward at times.

I'm looking forward to playing again.

I was furious that they dont implement house trophy... It was great in prev HP games i played.
And the range of spells is waaaayyy to small.... Even elden ring have more spells than game who is about wizzards.

This game was SO good. I didn't expect it to be. I've always liked the Harry Potter franchise but my girlfriend absolutely loves it. I bought her a PC just for this game, bought us both copies, but I didn't play it right away. She is enthralled by it still, and when I started it I stopped playing everything else for like 2 months. It was a breath of fresh air and one of the few big studio games released that was 110% worth buying. I can't believe they haven't created any true DLC story content updates. I'm also utterly shocked that they haven't announced a sequel coming after this game was the best selling game last year making over 1 billion, and it was so universally loved by critics and gamers alike.

Haven't played it yet, well beyond like 30 mins to see if it was working fine with my 1080ti, on my to do list even though its actually installed on my PC...lol

Brenics ~ Just to point out I do believe Chris Roberts is going down as the man who cheated backers and took down crowdfunding for gaming.

Just to show you how I do things: Not bought yet, it came out in 23 and is still putting out significant updates. It is 50% off but that's not the issue, once I think they have stopped doing new content it gets bought. However it has a strong live service aspect without being abusive, so it may carry on with updates like this for a few years to come. With that in mind next year I will likely just buy it regardless.

i just don't understand how they missed the mark with not having multiplayer ......... i mean come on , you have 4 houses (factions) so much they could have done , even co-op , perfect couples game .

I don't share the love for the game. It's alright. One of the most 7/10 games I've ever played. Attention to detail and celebration of the setting is very high, while the actual game is just a particularly bloated Ubisoftian open world game.

Maybe because it is far harder to hit the mark when you bring multiplayer in, especially PvP?

The same for me. I bought it because I love the HP lore and world. As usual though, I wait for 6 months to a year before really diving in. I wait for the initial round of bug fixes and then some enhancements, like this one. I might have to play it now :)

I had my eye on this game since before it was launched as i keep an eye on the open world games, although i never read the books and saw a couple of the movies (sorry true blue Harry Potter fans).

I bought it but had been busy completing other games. Just started it over the last 2 weeks, maybe halfway through the story and it is quite a fun game, so far very impressed, lots of side quests / items to acquire.

Enjoying the duelling, but most importantly the exploring once completing some minor *tutorial* style quests, picking a direction and wandering off is quite rewarding.

I think it was so good game because it chose something to focus on. Games that try to do everything are more often than not mediocre at everything.

Heresy, to think they let anyone play without reading all the books and watching all the films! :)

Yeah, really great sense of place.  For the folks who always wanted that feeling of being at Hogwarts, it delivers.

If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.

Exactly as everyone else pointed out the setting is something a person like me who loves everything Harry Potter would love to be completely immersed in. They were clever to realise that early.

Lol yes! Lucky there wasn't a skill testing question only a true blood would know :)

Got a few more hours in this weekend, still having a blast (there's a pun there somewhere) wandering about, playing with spell combinations. My good intentions to go back and harvest my plants every 15 minutes have fallen by the wayside, an hour or 2 can roll by while i explore the countryside, gathering goods, solving puzzles and eliminating enemies.

There seem to be many clothing / gear styles available. I am currently levelling, so when i get new gear i am just using whatever has the best stats, regardless of looks / style. I have looked like a well dressed noble wizard with a top hat, to my current look which seems to be a cross between Gandalf and Sub-zero from mortal combat lol.

Looking forward to this June update and Talent points being able to be reset, i have spent only a few as i wasn't sure exactly how i wanted to build my Slytherin with his Gray classic Yew wand. With the update i should be able to experiment with the talents freely.
