It could still be a really good game. Just like Animal Crossing is really good game.
But as fan of Dragon Age: Origins, I don't think I'll be buying Veilguard. I feel like I'm not part of this game's target audience.
Animal Crossing isn't a valid point of comparison. It's more like Kingdoms of Amalur.
That does seem a valid comparison as far as the color is concerned.
Here is some actual game play. It does look "a little better ... " than what these screen shot show. Having said that, it was definitely hit with the "stylized" stick.
I really don't like that combat at all. I want turn based or something like Mass Effect where you can use some of your squad mates skills when you pause. This is awful.
In that wheel can you use other group mates skills? Cannot see. I wonder how it plays on the PC I presume that was controller play. When the wheel came up the combat paused like Mass Effect so that is a plus. I don't mind playing on the controller just want more options otherwise it is hack slash jump there, dodge there combat. You cannot use other skills only one was on that wheel. So it belonged to that fighter guy.
If you have good AI and I presume you can play another class , other than that fighter. So it can be a bit more strategic with pausing to make decisions not hectic like a chicken with its head cut off combat.
I cannot decide on this , have to see more but if it's not, well one less game to wish for I guess.
Finally watched the gameplay. I was prepared for the worst and still got disappointed especially when I realized that the awful art direction isn't even the games biggest problem. What the hell is that combat? Press A A A A A A ... I couldn't even finish watching, barely made it to 7 minutes.
Dragon Age: Fortnight. Hard pass. I didn't like the last DA game so I guess I won't be missing much.
And people wonder why the gaming industry is in trouble these days. Make good games and people will willingly hand over their money with a smile on their face. If you don't make good games...well...I hope your resume is up to date.

Has Bioware ever made a bad RPG game besides ME: Andromeda? Why are fans so quick to abandon a studio that has made amazing AAA, genre defining, RPG titles?
Is it because they couldn't deliver on their looter shooter Anthem? If Larian Studios made an awful FPS would that lessen our excitement if they made a new Divinity title?

The in game gameplay did sort of redeem the trailer but the art design is still horrible.
