    Although I had been excited for the 1.0 release after such a lengthy stint in Early Access, I remember I ended up refunding because it was just boring.

    I think maybe they tried too hard to stick to the Monster Train formula of integrating a unique, quirky setting into engaging gameplay. In the case of Inkbound, the setting was a little too quirky and ended up getting in the way of my enjoyment. All that business about books and ink did not keep the combat from feeling weird and abstract, like I could almost feel the spreadsheet lurking behind every character and move.
