VR is totally gonna catch on like wildfire! Very soon! Any day now ... totally ... how much will Vintage Stock pay for a slightly used Oculus Rift?

Haha yeah for sure VR is struggling. It reminds me of WAR which was a game with big ideas that the technology just didn't exist to really bring those ideas to reality killing the game. Same thing but at a hardware level and there's a bunch of players.

Biggest thing they have yet to conquer is getting them both high resolution and untethered. Right now to get high enough resolution and frame rate to eliminate screen door effect and achieve 90+ fps to minimize motion sickness you must be tethered. It's simply too much data to pipe over the air with today's tech.

Well when you put a heavy HMD on someone's face that also has a rope tying them to the PC, that gets pretty unpleasant pretty quickly. Only die hard fans tolerate it, and there's not enough of those to make VR really profitable.

Maybe one day. I'm not holding my breath, though.

I have not used one of the modern ones, but I would have thought the weight was more important than the "rope"? If you can get they motion sickness sorted just by saying "tethered" that seems a fair trade of to me.

I was thinking of buying one once what I thought of as the "second wave" came in, but it never did, still waiting.

Blade & Sorcery has been a pretty fun and occasionally demented game. Been waiting for the Crystal Hunt mode for a good while, hopefully Nomad gets it too so it can be played on both PC and Quest.

The issue is when you turn around you get wrapped up in the tether requiring you to unwind at some point or you end up tripping over the thing. It's very immersion breaking at the least and can be downright dangerous. If you're playing an "in cockpit" game like racing a car this isn't an issue, but for any of those full room VR experiences it is.

VR Experience places get around this by turning the PC into a backpack. It solves the tether issue but they're hot and heavy from the batteries.

Idk my Pico 4 does just fine. It's also not heavy and have worn it for hours and hours. The days of rift being top dog is over. The new tech in the Pico 4 and quest 3 are not even in the same ballpark as quest 2 or other previous HMDs.

Yeah, the weight of goggles might be an issue but they can put a bucket on my head if its light and does the job!
