"It also looks like there will be many options for players to find a level of difficulty that best suits them." - Err having a few difficulty settings is a highlight, not the norm?

"BioWare’s confirmed that players will be able to choose their own pronouns and even when or even if to disclose their gender identity." - that's a highlight?

Looking at the Q&A myself my highlight is that race means nothing, your race determines nothing other than your looks by the sound of it. Why is that important, well that plus auto targeting spells easy mode in big letters, so hopefully those difficulty levels have some punch.

Always regardless of genre, you take out the "RPG" then they take out the "O" and all you have left is MO.

That's not answering the question, is it? Sure, you couldn't have story parts of a Duster as a Human or of Dalish as a Dwarf, but besides that, were there any big gameplay differences in DA:O? Not that I can remember off the top of my head.

As you can see with each iteration the mechanical differences get less, this sort of gaming philosophy is based around the idea that a player should not have to read anything to play a game. Not a guide, not watch a video, just jump in.

So its not so much removing RPG as removing "difficulty"...it is an "easy mode" gaming philosophy which has effected the entire industry and did not see any kick back outside of indie until Dark Souls came out. Regardless of a few aberrant titles, the march to ever easier goes on.
