I've been hearing a lot of good things about this game, which I've been ignoring since NCSoft killed CoH. Now that they've un-killed it, I realized I have no reason not to check out GW2.

There was a deep discount on the older expansions during the Steam summer sale, so I grabbed the first two as a bundle, which pretty much cancels all the free-to-play unpleasantness I would have had to endure otherwise.

Um, guys, I've been having a blast. This really is a fantastic game, and I take back any negative assumptions I may have made due to its free-ish-to-play nature. Even the cash (gem) shop makes perfect sense and doesn't feel predatory at all. They just sell optional items and services at reasonable prices, end of story.
