Wait wait... hold the phone. They added town building and trade routes to an ARPG? WHY? I don't recall seeing anyone even ask for this but I don't participate on their forums or discord. Seems like a complete non sequitur on the level of addin ARPG aspects to Cities: Skylines.

PoE's seasonal stuff has always been optional. They experiment with many things. I don't like some of it as its a distraction. The city is a buildup to PoE2 I believe. Its where we go next. The actual new season is new gems and the thing you actually missed in whatever you are trying to accomplish is the in game currency exchange. You can effectively trade resources to other players at a certain ratio. There are certain other games I know that could use an exchange like that.

So they can sell their $500 "cosmetic" bundles. Think of how much more revenue can be generated by bolting on a bunch of cruft to an already abysmally bland game.

I get my ARPG fill from games that don't feel like a job.
