Gothic 2 is one of my most favourite games ever made and I always struggled with the first one because of the bad controlls, so seeing how this remake seems to look better with every new trailer they drop makes me very happy! (Diego and the other characters that I know from Gothic 2 look just as I imagined them back in the day, which is a good sign aswell)
I may make an exception to my 'no graphic makeover' purchases rule, 2001 is a long time ago and I got it around then. I only play a game once so I hardly remember it, so it could be worth a go. Lets see what the reviews say but bear in mind this game will get a low score simply because it does not live up to modern expectations of gameplay like not having to read anything before you play.
If they don't have the game to the point they're willing to let journalists put their hands on it yet, I would say an early Q2 release in 2025 is a bit aggressive given it's already August 2024. The marketing hype train will hit full steam with teasers, trailers, gameplay videos, "behind the scenes" videos as well as journo hands on first impressions before the game is actually ready to release, and we aren't even there yet with this one. Needs more time in the oven, but I'll be looking forward to it
I was actually checking out the old Gothic 1 & 2 available on Switch a few days ago. Has anyone played the Switch versions? Looking for some feedback - I hate the Nintendo Store, it's always so overpriced that I hesitate to buy anything.

Check out Mortismal on YouTube. He did a gothic 1 &2 video as well as covering some of the remake.
I know he talks about the switch performance in one of them.
If memory serves me I think he said it was very good. Best check out the videos though.
