They should have left them at their original strength but NEVER put them in story instances. What the heck were they thinking?

It seems to me the additions of wraiths would be akin to having the player character being killed randomly while playing a game; just for the sake of it, to mix things up. I’m not sure that’s what I would consider fun. Imagine playing FFIX in the magic saucer playing a Triad game when your character gets attacked and killed. Square Enix replies with “hey, it’s immersive, weve got evil on the loose and they don’t appreciate you relaxing here”. I think people will get rightly ticked off. Here I am just chopping wood in Dranor village, when Jagex puts up a message “your character died, respawn in Lumbridge. Have fun with your game”. I’m sure there would be lots of WTFs. I guess in this scenario I could also be attacked by a high level baddie, but let’s cut out the middleman.

The spawns aren't random. They only spawn after killing something. You could sit out in the wilderness all day and not spawn one if you don't kill anything. The spawn rate seems to be around 1/20 to 1/30 ish kills. It was like 1/5 before the first change, it was infuriating. I literally couldn't finish an instance unless I got really lucky and didn't spawn one. They also chase you indefinitely in an instance. I spawned one near the end of one and ran all the way to the beginning and it didn't stop chasing. In the open world they'll stop chasing after a bit.

They should just adjust the AI so they despawn if you don't engage within 15 seconds or so. That way they're optional. They spawn, you decide if you want to take it on, if not just turn and run without attacking. 15 second counter and poof. Maybe say something creepy on their way out. Seems like a pretty simple fix.

Like I’ve said, I don’t think they should show up in story instances but I’m all for very dangerous mini-bosses in games.

In lineage 2 we had an area called the Sea of Spores and it was a great place to level. However there was a being called Orfen that would prowl the area. It was loud when it was close but by the time you heard it you were already in trouble.

It was then time to run for your life.

    I found it hysterically fun.

Just outside of dark elf village there was a sort if mini boss, about level 9 while the other mobs were about 3 or 4? In any case it was a sentient tree that would patrol the area and you had to be ready for it or run. Usually the players teamed up to take it down. If it was just a few players then they’d run.

If a world is going to be dangerous then it has to be dangerous.
