    Oof, that was janky movement.

The combat looks really bad, it is just so janky. The base building/war stuff seems neat, but the combat animations looked worse than EQ1 lol

I dunno looks pretty cool to me. Yeah it needs polish but looks like the bones of a decent game are there. Movement and combat animations can be cleaned up.

how can a massively-multiplayer game lag in singleplayer mode in a cave with no skybox or ground beyond the two feet near you?

This performance is not acceptable in 2024. It wasn't acceptable in 2004.

A single "hub" where players can meet up is not an mmo, sorry. It's a lobby game at best.

I think it will come down to the gameplay and videos like this just don't give you enough information to make a reliable decision.

Game graveyards are littered with good bones.

Sure but on the flip side no game ever made looked like a AAA polished masterpiece day one of development. Shall I go dig up some old videos of Cyberpunk 2077 at launch and all the various crazy bugs and graphic glitches compared to now? To be clear I'm not saying that launching in that state was acceptable just saying it's a process. The question is how far along in the process are they? Is this all they've got or do they have more in the tank. I definitely wouldn't preorder yet but nor am I ready to toss it in the dumpster. That's all I'm saying.

People just need something to complain about, it has turned into a sport.

This looks amazing to me.   I love the gameplay loops detailed.   Kinda reminds me of a modern SWG.   The major storms resetting the deep desert every so often will keep exploration fresh and make it difficult for larger guilds to have everything on lock down.

I am just worried that it's just a TPS as they stated "a third person shooter with melee and action skills" and currently the melee combat looks it's not going to play a major role at all when in reality, anti-personal ranged weapons were really not a thing in Dune lore.
