It took two years for the game to go from hundreds of thousands playing to barely breaking 15k. Two more years and maybe this one will be gone too.

I think the competition for "multiplayer rotation" (what multiplayer games a gamer will put on their rotation) is so intense only the very best can survive. Gamers do want the fresh take of the new, but that only lasts so long and the game has to be exceptional to be doing well after a year now.

We also have to consider that live service apart from a gamers "trusted few" is not appealing as much as it used to, I see no solution to all this apart from fewer better quality multiplayer online games and little sign as yet the industry want's to take that route.

Whatever happened back in April and May absolutely caused the population to plummet.  Its one of the worst drops I have seen in recent memory.
