Downloaded, played a bit. The new player experience is much better and on par with what you'd expect from a polished MMO. Made it to lvl 10 and it just began to feel like, well. New World. It's got a nice new coat of paint on it though! Having to pay $30 for 10 endgame levels/content, mount access and a new weapon class is pretty lame though. I feel like this was owed to us because of how bad this game launched. Still one of the best hardware performing games out there.

Every time Goonsquad/SA/DS post salt on Star Citizen, I spend more money on it. Every time a mentally disturbed former backer or Elite CMDR toxic emo comments, I spend more money on it. Every time they refuse to answer why they spend so much time arguing about a game they don't even like, I spend more money on it. Want to watch the world burn because you can't have your way? You got whats coming to you.

Compared to the original the start was both bloated and restrictive. As you can change weapons later on it is best to pick an archetype that gives skill bonuses you will want if you know what those are. The graphics were improved and swimming is now in, which is basically animated as is in City of Heroes.

What is owed to you is what you paid for. If you want access to the expansion you have to buy it just like everyone that wanted it did.

    Owed to you?

Every mmo has bad launched even games with years of experience have bad xpac launches but they don't "owe" you anything.

$30 for 100s if not close to 1000 hours is what you get.

Eh, I'd kinda agree that its not owed especially when you take into account they were adding stuff for free to the game for 2 years prior to the expansion (while they were also battling bugs constantly). Having a buyable expansion by this point is kind of a fair trade-off when they couldn't easily shutdown the game. As for the others daying New World had a rough launch, everyone knows that's putting it mildly. New World had several crazy bugs that hindered/altered progress GREATLY for a good year (some of which were known in the beta) unless people kept forgetting gold dupes which were almost always popping up every time patch and the game never really recovered from until they added new servers.

Played 2.5k hours on New World, quit playing actively over a year ago, but have returned a couple times to log in some hours crafting and whatnot. Played the NWA beta to lvl 30 and i had a good time. Was fun seeing an active community again. All the starter towns were heavily populated and the zones were packed. Never had any lag or desync, even during the pvp events.

I wonder how the population was split between pc/console. Not sure if AGS will release this metric. But i felt a good portion were console players.

The 2 main issues AGS had during launch, when they lost a majority of the playerbase, were server ques and no mid-game content. I did not have a que at all during the beta, and really not sure what was going on behind the scenes. Disclaimer, i was not playing the beta with a group so i am not aware if there were any issues with being able to play with friends. I made 3 characters during the weekend test and was never asked what server i wanted to play on, but they were on 3 different servers. Maybe i missed something. As far as content, there is a plethora of quests now. That should no longer be an issue.

I feel like the xp gain needs to be scaled back. Was way to easy to level up. I have noticed this recently on live servers also. Hopeful for a smooth launch on Oct 15, with very few issues/bugs. But, this is AGS...even with the good beta experience, my expectations are low/guarded.
