I wonder if Konrad Tomaszkiewicz was one of the key people that was working on that early version of Cyberpunk 2077? You know, the version that folk don't talk about much and was more closely resembling the tabletop game....

That was the version everyone pretty much wanted to play and was promised; then the core Witcher 3 team stepped in and something happened, people left CDPR afterwards and few folk talked about that until years later.

The supposed story is that a lot of disagreements were had and devs butted heads once the Witcher 3 team stepped in; and the W3 team pretty much scrapped that early version the cyberpunk team had been already working on in favor of a game that looked more like a blockbuster hollywood movie rather then a deep do-whatever-want rpg.

That isn't even going into the other stuff that i am sure some other people have a better grasp of knowing about then i do, as all i every cared about or followed closely was how that first version of Cyberpunk was coming along, it was a 3rd person roleplaying game and had pretty much all of the cyberpunk classes from the tabletop game.

In spite of the dumpster fire initial launch, Cyberpunk 2077 is pretty well critically acclaimed at this point as well as a financial blockbuster success for the company given it reportedly has earned over $700 million to date. Hardly a flop or failure by any stretch. You'd be hard pressed to make a case that this alleged previous version would have done better.

I still have a Phantom Liberty playthrough on my bucket list; the game has really changed a lot since that launch.
