Question: Does anyone play this? I played SWG back in the day and loved it before CU.

Is there a decent population? Is there a reason to avoid jumping in to this?

Playing SWG now is kinda like visiting a museum with a few new exhibits. It's cool one or two times, but unless you are hardcore into it, it might get boring. The population is maybe a few thousand, maybe a hundred or so on at any given time. Even though it is kind of dead, the people who play are dedicated and pretty chill for the most part.

Restoration is cool, but it doesn't allow Linux or Mac. Something to do with trying to fight people using multiple accounts.

SWG Resto was tons of fun at launch. I can only guess that the pop has dropped a bit since then, but it definitely brought back all the old SWG goodness.
If I was interested today, I would definitely give Resto a try, but would also consider Legends, which I have not yet played.

Restro is just 1 of 3?4? SWG Emu's. Legends (that I play on) has between 900-1100 online.

Kind of like Tiller said. It's an nostalgia thing. I did 1 play through and still do some space stuff on it from time to time. On the other hand my son pretty much lives on it and does decorating and large space battles.

"and changing species is doable with a built-in nanite system." That is the only thing I thought was off in the update, surely that's for a new alt. They seem to have done a remarkable job.

OK, which version is going to be the one they do?

    Legends is NGE
    SWGemu is pre-CU without space
Restro is a mix of the 2

Being that there are fans of each, you risk losing the others if you go with just 1 vision.
