Personally i think Dark and Light is going to be the next big game. some of the features they boast are incredibly. The only thing i hope is that you don't have to pay monthly fees. But I bet You will it seemed to have cost a lot of money to make. Has anyone actually played it. I applied but apparently they have only let 2000 people in out of 130,000 people.
Originally posted by piquet I realize it makes me a nerdy nerd, but I really look forward to Star Trek Online
I guess that makes me a nerd too cuz I'm looking forward to Star Trek Online over any other game! Unfortunately, its about 2 or 3 years before it will be out. Of the more recent games coming out, it's Lord of the Rings Online and DDO.
PD, settlement building, dynamic environments and weather, disease...original magic system....playable dragons that can incinerate dozens at a pop. Mmmmm, juicy.
Permadeath and environmental challenges are the next great step in the evolution of MMORPGs. Only through true adversity will one feel accomplished. Only in truly knowing you can die will true adversity present itself.
Only one: Vanguard: SoH - shite name but should hopefully should be a robust PvE MMOG (Brad McQuaid & Co).
I was interested in Dark & Light, but the decision to release the game - come what may - in Nov 2005 to a limited community is commercial suicide. Look at the development of AO, SWG & Horizons. I can handle teething problems, crashes, CS issues, server issues, but I cannot and will not condone nor endorse a rushed release, with broken gameplay and an absolutely mockery and shell of the game as initially promised.
Darkfall? Interesting concept but I no longer follow the game because it shows no real sign of progress. By the time it is released - if ever - it will probably be geriatric. I hope I'm wrong and am prepared to eat Crow (despite being a vegetarian) because the MMOG community needs diversity and needs games that actually deliver upon their promises.
Glad to see that people are still passionate about MMOGs. I'll have a look at a few that have been mentioned. Cheers folks!

I've got a place in DnL beta, not logged in for a long time. Can't see it doing anything, unfortunately. Wish was a far better prospect and look where it ended up.

There are soo many, but the top ones are CoV, DnL, D&D online, Pirates of the Burning Sea, LOTR online, and Age of Conan looks cool too. That's just naming a few, but of course I probably won't be able to play all of those because of $
