We should probably root for games like this to succeed...The cards are stacked against them.....They dont have 750M to spend on their game, nor do they have hundreds of devs.....Not too many games are going for old school appeal and most of the newer ones lose their appeal very fast, so maybe something new would be nice. THe only games I can think of that took a similar path were Embers Adrift and Project Gorgon.
Massively’s reviewers are bad at old school MMOs. Dont trust their experiences. I stopped going to that sight after it became obvious
Its not saying that only 6k of the 40k accounts have played the game since EA.. its that 6k have been online playing at the same exact time, derp. Theres no info stating how many of the 40k have played at different times throughout the day

6K haven't been playing online at the same time except for 1/5 at 1400, according to Steam Charts. They only broke 5K concurrency the day before on 1/4.
The good news for Pantheon is that they're numbers are slowly trending up. On the other hand, their concurrency graph has high peaks and low valleys, which suggests that more players are in a specific band of time zones and that they play for shorter stints. The more consistent average concurrency is a lot lower than their brief peaks, which suggests that the core base of dedicated players is much smaller.
Still, both the base average and the peaks are trending up which means more people are still buying the game. It also suggests that Pantheon might find a sustainable niche. We don't have 30 days of numbers yet, so they're still in the 'honeymoon' phase. Data points at the 30, 60, and 180 day marks will provide better insight.
