For the love of god, please show me how to enchant weapons (Cora).
Tried to put red essence (vamp I believe) into my yellow sword and it failed 5 times (have a sword with like 10 slots)...cost me a mil credits lol. Do I need to be a crafter to be able to do it with any kind of success?
The red essence goes on the top slot on the radial dial when you use that tool...
I have a bunch of Cora pics including the Malidon, the biggest, meanest looking mob I've ever seen in a game...he is definitely the BIGGEST MOB I HAVE EVER SEEN FOR SURE, MY GOD HE iS THE SIZE OF A FRIGGIN MOUNTAIN!!! HIS FISTS ARE BIG ENOUGH TO HOLD AT LEAST THIRTY CORANS!!! GAME OVER MAN GAME OVER!!! FORGET IT YOU CAN'T BEAT IT WITH A THOUSAND PEOPLE!!! WHERE IS MY FRIGGIN ENTERPRISE!!! SCOTTY GIVE ME ALL THE POWER YOU GOT I NEED THE PHASOR BANKS!!!
I about fainted when I saw it...then *rawr* I was dead...
BTW, can I use summons as a fighter? Haven't figured out how, could have swore I saw another fighter run around with summons.
Here's my impression of the game so far...
Players wise, the JP players are really nice as usual. The only incidents I've had are lame a$$ punk kids from the U.S. in the beta. I mean come on, how is it funny to follow someone, then just sit there and 1 shot everything they're trying to fight, then AE and kill everything else, then laugh talking about "haha stupid nips"...sigh god I hope OUR version won't be filled with bunch of lame kids that would only act like such "badasses" online but is too scared to do anything IRL but sit in their room and stare at the screen 24/7.
Now as far as the game itself, the graphics is without a doubt, the most beautiful MMOG I have ever played, even better than Lineage 2. That means, ALL OF CURRENT CROP US GAMES SUCK A$$ IN THE VISUAL DEPARTMENT COMPARED TO RFO.
I went Cora of course. I mean lets see, my options were to stare at the following all day:
- punk kids trying to be tough with their toys (Belatto, er think I botched it) - gundam looking droids (Accretia) - hawt women in metal thongs...sigh too bad they don't animate their money maker...(Cora)
I'm sorry, personally I like staring at beautiful women...real or not. So Cora was the obvious choice. Does that make me a sicko perv stalker? Um no...lol I like women, what's wrong with that?
Anyway, now as far as game mechanics: I like it. The skill system they have offers you unlimited potential and customization with your character. I mean, if you want to be a Trigun-wannabe-mage type character (AND look like it), you can. Now with that said, be warned: This game is a grind in every department...not only do you have to grind xp, you have to grind skills as well. I mean seriously GRIND SKILLS. So if ur a faerie whiner that wants everything to be equal for hardcore gamers and weekend warriors, well this sure won't be a game for you.
BUT unlike games such as L2, grinding is actually, well fun. I mean I'm still in the 30s, but so far the xp really isn't all that hard to come by, granted that if you solo, you know wtf ur doing and be able to solo stuff 10+ levels higher constantly (haha knowing all skills and magic at your disposal and managing them when ur losing 500hp a hit, it gets scary at times, but the rush!). Group play is where its at however, it really gets fun when you get into groups where people know wtf they're doing. And those that like to dual/trios (small groups), you will love the game, just about any tactic you can think of, will work.
Can't comment on crafting, gunna make a crafter and figure it out soon.
Now PVP...lol its mayhem in big fights. And I do mean BIG FIGHTS. I don't know about the other races, but having access to 2k HP pots that you can quaff every 2-3 seconds sure makes the fights a lot longer at my level, or at least gives you a chance at running when you get ganked. PVP so far for me has always been in groups of 4 and larger...and when you are looking for trouble and finds all 3 factions at an intersection...LOL the tension right before someone fires the first shot and chaos begins...its something else.
Quests...lol I haven't been able to do anything BUT the garden variety "kill x get y reward z" type autoquests, so I really can't comment on it.
I for one wholeheartedly recommend to this game to people who isn't afraid of a bit of grinding.
purple weapons/armors= w/ magic attributes (e.g. + to resistances, + to crits) yellow or intense weapons/armors=have stats of the next set
safe upgrade of normal (white) weapons is up to +4 talics. btw max # of slots in armors and weapons is 7. so higher than +4 on normal/white weapons will cause your weapon and ingredients to disappear upon failure.
yellow/purple weapons does not have safe upgrades...so weapons/armors will disapear upon failure (even at +1)
but there are 4 other gems that u can use which increase big, little, narrow chance of success.
best talic to use is ignorant talic (yellow colored talic) which increases the damage of weapons. for armors either the purple (forgot the name) which increases ur def or +resistance talics.
just like the other skills...u have to level ur crafting skills. crafting regularly will increase your crafting pt...thus increasing success rate.
other talics are crap.. smile.
about upgrading..all can upgrade weapons/armors (talics). but only specialist can craft.
Ahh...I kept failing on my yellow weapon...no wonder.
So let me get this straight...anyone can upgrade normal weapons, but if say I want to upgrade a yellow weapon I really should get a specialist to do it?
I failed on the yellow 3 times but weapon didn't disappear, tho I lost all the talics/gems, was I just really lucky? One message said something about being damaged, dunno what that meant...
No wonder...I got a yellow talic from mining and sold it for 3.5mil on my server...lol...
Can someone list the gems and what they actually do? Not talics, but gems...
Thanks a lot Charmdan...btw how do I get summons as Cora, or is that class specific?
Ok sry again its me again i figured it out but know i cant figure out how to get my account to work do i need to do this game Account ID crap that i can't figure out. Plz help. Im trying not to be such a bug.

The reason for that error is because the game requires a Japanese version of Windows. To get around that go into your Regional options under control panel. Click on Region and Language options. Then click the advanced tab. In the very first drop down select japanese (You should already have language pack installed if you have done other japanese/chinese beta's) If you don't you'll need your Windows CD. If you do select japanese from drop down and click apply. It will ask you to reboot. But before that you also need to change one more thing. Recently Sega went 1 extra step to stop people from outside Japan from playing. To get around this new step. Simple change your windows clock (by double clicking the clock in the lower right of your screen on task bar). Select the TimeZone tab. And set it to GMT +9 Osaka, Sapporo, Tokyo. Now you can reboot your pc. Those two changes will fix your problem with launching the game. Also it's required by everyone before they can even start playing. Enjoy.

hmm that would be the hard part. Without having access to the faq written on rfbase.com (which is currently still down). I'll look around and see if I can't find it mirrored some where.
Update: RFBase.com is back up. Click me (Link to faq for registration) Just use that. Note that if you get a security code not listed in the faq. Just keep refreshing the page until you do get one that matches up.
No idea if RFBase.com will be going down again. So better use the faq while the site is still up.
