"The game will be released in November because our first objective will be fulfilled in November: a first version of Dark and Light that will allow the most faithful members of our community to be part of the legend of Ganareth, and to add their name to the background. We always said that the final goal of DnL was to allow players to put a hand on the game, to have complete freedom, and to be part of the construction of Ganareth. This is what we will offer to you in November 2005.The game will be released in November because our first objective will be fulfilled in November: a first version of Dark and Light that will allow the most faithful members of our community to be part of the legend of Ganareth, and to add their name to the background. Call it paid beta, or some dev trying to put a positive spin on a prematue release. Heck I still may buy it, I am just going to wait a couple of weeks after they drop the NDA to see how bad it really is. Oh and I suspect they are just out of miney and canot scre up any more venture capitol. That is just speculation though.
based on that DnL is going to be a complete failure.
Mourning tried to do the EXACT same thing that DnL is doing now. Launched premature and put the same spin on it about players building the world. It was a complete and utter failure.
Good thing its back in development now with a new investor so they can finish it properly..
I agree with the poster above... the game will probally be a failure... ive been following the game from the end of 2003 ....
And the kept extending the game, thats good if its not finished... but a year. The graphics will be outdated now, and cause of the pay-to-play beta not much people will be attracted to the game.
Silently hopeing for a open beta, if the pay to play failes, so i can still test it
Ive been reading these forums awhile, and when I first came here, I almost immediately found myself becoming a "fanboy" due to the amazing promises in store. Reading the forum, and being immediately disgusted by people who would say anything negative towards the game. However as time goes on, I think even the most dogmatic of fans are slowly getting a taste of what may come. Although its not released, and nothing is set in stone, there is much to speculate on, I just hope the people who pay right away ( I hope I dont break down and become one of them due to impatience ), do not get ripped off in some which way.
What I do hope, is coming here shortly afterwards, and reading how im missing out on this new game thats going to set standards for the future just a bit higher.
