OK i have to strongly disagree about AO. Ive played AO for a year now (and i did pay for it)... The free trial run they did was an incredible success for Funcom. I know dozens of people that started as Froobs and then upgraded to pay players. And thats just the one server and only the people i personally know from my guild. I think Funcom is doing the right thing and other game companies should take note. If AO fails it will be because of Conan and not lack of a player base. AO is VERY alive and well and gets more content added then any other MMO out there. NTM i hope neocron dosnt die yet i still wanna try it.
.... if you think GW is dying, dream on. Although it may not have monthly fees, it'll live by expansion packs that cost a bundle. Plus everything is instanced so the server costs have got to be even lower.

I hope you are not a financial analyst professionally.
EQ2 is making around 4,197,200 dollars a month. Hardly a financial flop. Just admit it, Jorev....you are a in-the-closet SOE lover. For someone to complain about SOE so much one would have to suspect...
But back to topic.
I dont think AO will be the next one. The reason why I say this is because the majority of all mmorpgs were shut down due to financial problems, etc.
Right now, I suspect that Funcom really isn't in a financial hardship. However, they are producing Conan MMORPG so they may can AO and use some of the extra resources for Conan. But i think that is unlikely.

Would be great if WoW crashed & burned, you can see all the kids crying
It never will though as Vivendi have far too much cash as do Blizzard. BTW - Roma Victor is going to r0x0r and the no subs model with a free trial will pull them in like Runescape does.
Although iv heard about many improvements to Horizons sadly i just dont think it has much of a future, it could have been great but unfortunatly it was badly run from the start. Who knows these are just opinions, games can soon turn around and become what they should have been in the first place. The one thing i dont agree with in this thread are the SOE bashers saying EQ2 will die next, what a load of rubbish, EQ2 still has a huge player base compared to most other games and will for years to come, the new expansion will probably help out to once they get all the kinks out of it. Please try to be fair when you make your vote i know alot of people dislike SOE for one reason or another but there is no need to start doomsaying about there games, afterall if they can keep SWG going and PS going then EQ2 will definatly be here for a long time to come, live with it.
Thanks alot

Originally posted by Jorev I thought about listing MXO in the poll, but SOE knew it was a lemon when they bought it. They haven't had to spend much on it and just wanted to offer it as an added value to enhance their all access pass sales. EQ2 on the other hand has been a serious financial flop for SOE. It has failed miserably even though they have tried every trick in the book to make it more profitable. The problem is they have spent too much on it's production and players are not interested in sequels that don't offer anything new. EQ2 has not met expectations and still costs too much to maintain. It may take a while, but it will certainly fold before EQ1.
Now while EQ2 has not neccessarily been the runaway success SOE was hoping it would be, it's not going down the toilet by any means, and isn't languishing nearly as bad as the other games on your list. If SOE were to drop any game, it would no doubt be MxO over EQ2.
Overall, I think either Horizons or MxO will be the next game to go. I would be very surprised if either one lasted another year.
I didn't list SWG on the poll because it has a strong fan base outside of just gaming purists and I suspect that any decision to abandon it would need to include cooperation from Lucas Arts.

We can sort of say the same for EQ2. Many people stick to it, no matter what you think of the game personally Jorev! You have to face the fact that not everyone shares the same opinion!

I believe Vivendi has owned Blizzard since the mid 90's.

Horizons probably, can't see it having many subscribers now.
SWG should be on the poll. that game is slowing dieing from the lack of giving what the players what they want/need.

SoE won't be next, they've managed to keep Planetside, Everquest, Everquest2 and SWG going even with bad design decisions continually.
None of the above. Most likely The Sims Online, which is still technically alive. EQ2 is not doing well as it might but is a ways from dying.
