Final Fantasy XI; This is what it sounds like when worlds collide

I'm a very lonely one when it comes to an MMORPG like FFXI. Everyone I know who plays MMORPGs either don't like the Final Fantasy style of fighting, or cannot spend much time on a game. I think FFXI looks great, but it looks like a very boring game if you don't have friends to play it with. If I don't find people to play with, I don't think I'll waste my money on FFXI.
That's where this handy little thread comes in; I would like to find some cool people to join worlds with and play FFXI with. I live in the eastern time zone and have plenty of time to play FFXI in the late afternoon on all weekdays but Friday (hey, I gotta have SOME life :P) and all day Saturday and Sunday, minus the nights.
This is starting out just for me to find people to play FFXI with, but I'm hoping this could help other people, as well - if you're interested in finding some people to start out with, post something here.
FFXI looks like it will be an awesome ride. But a roller-coaster loses its luster without friends riding with you.

In any MMORPG is only takes me a few minutes to find cool people... friends or not. . .
That's one of the main reasons I play them... very social.

I like to give my friends skippys.... *thinks* maybe that's why I have more female friends than male... lol
The best way to attract people you probably would want to be around it talk in-game how you normally would act in rl. Personally, I have an odd sense of humor, can talk about whatever, and enjoy running over old ladies just like any other normal male of my age.
I'm in the EST zone too, and have a friend that I'll be gaming with... though I have no clue what shard we'll be on or how that'll work. *shrugs* so unless we ALL decide on this board exactly what server we'll be going to (that'd be pretty damn cool) I'd just suggest being yourself in game.

Hey everybody.
I'll have the game the day it hits stores.
We need to figure out a server/world to play on.
I will be a Tarutaru Whitemage to start. If we don't figure a way to all be on the same server, look for a taru healer named Xan, Xander, Zander or Alexander. Whichever name i can get through the name filter.
Im on the east coast and I play normally M-F 2p till 10p and Sat/Sun all day unless I have a date.
Just in case anyone wants to join me, I'll be joining server #13; Diablos server. Not sure of the name yet.
If you happen to end up on that server, send me a PM.

Just to let you all know, we are forming a guild for FFXI in this very forum. Look under Sensei's post "Making FFXI Guild." We have about 10-12 members thus far and would welcome more. The more people we have in the guild obviously the more chances of having a hunting buddy/party online.
