First mmo done tried and dead ;b

Hey all, just registered here so pardon me if I am posting this on wrong area ect :b.

I have always been a big blizzard fan, and swore I wouldn't get into an MMO till they made one, then behold wow comes out.

Now don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the game a LOT, I loved the cartoony graphics, and trolls and NE have awesome ears ;b.

But besides all that, due to me first rolling alliance on a pvp server that ended up massivly horde populated, then rolling onto another server as alliance, but I did my research to find a balanced one, I had trouble getting back into the game :(. I mean it as fun, but after playing with the same ppl in the same guild for months on end I just could't 'start' over again with this game ;b. However my first server is all but dead, and after quiting for a couple months I realized how much I missed mmo's!!!

Well, my friend introduced me to this sight to maybe looking for another game, but new to the mmorpg games, needless to say I don't even know where to start :b.

So I'm asking you guys :D, what would you reccoment, I immensly enjoyed wow, so with anybody with expereince with that game could you maybe suggest a similar one! And heck I wouldn't mind playing one that has been out for a bit, but even one that soon to be released I'd try if it looks good :D

Mainly I just don't want to get as invovled in another game as I did with wow just to quit in a coule months cuz the game isn't so great, so any help would be great!

Thx in advance !!

  • Try FFXI from the things you talked about in your thread.  FFXI was the game I took a break from to play wow, I too quit wow after realizing its faults and got bored of and went back to FFXI.  Read the reviews from the game list or just try it out for yourself, you wont reach the lvl cap in one month trust me.  Just my opinion and not trying to start a flame war of games, just pointed out the aspects he liked in a game and recomending based on that.

If you liked WoW's cartoony style, you MIGHT like City of Heros.  It's very comic bookesque.

It's not like most MMOs in that there's no loot.  You don't kill a MOB for armor or whatever.  You do it for powerups and stuff.  It's not a bad game, especially if you get a REALLY good group of people.  The right people can make almost any game awesome.  But I recommend CoH to you due to your graphics taste.

Head to the list of games and check out the beta testing section.  You get to play for free!  Now, don't go there JUST for free play.  Go there if you think you'll actually want to test the game.  Not test to see if you want it, test to try to improve it.

City of Heros also has City of Villains coming out.  So you may want to check into that if you wanna give the bad guy side of life a try.

wow thanks for your feeback :O

I honeslty liked hitting the level cap, I mean you can always 'level' up your equipment and rep in wow ;b. etc etc, but for some reason losing a fight to somebody cuz of level bugged me, I loved being 60 and having all my friens 60, ^^

I dunno like I said that was my only mmo so I might just be clueless, but I just liked being capped, then I just play for fun not trying to level ;b, just pvp, raid for items or whatever :D, I spent 4 months at 60 on wow and it was simply the fact that there were not enough horde on my server that made it boring to me :(

Yeah final fantasy def had the same style of graphics that I liked in wow, but I'll look through the other formentioned games as well :D

thx again for your feedback ^^, I'll probably roam around on this site more now that I found it ;b

Well to first recommend a game you need to know WoW was created by taking several different ideas already out and polishing them into perfection supposedly. So you wont find another WoW out there but might find a game with similarities. I personally would recommend Dark Ages of Camelot. They arent cartoony graphics. The journey to the max level is fun(lvl50). And the end game is even better. And with ToA you can get artifacts to level up or once the new expansion comes out in december do the champion levels after 50. You also have huge raids to do once your 50 along with Pvp/Realm vrs. Realm. If you read different reviews you will find that its arguably the best pvp/rvr game out there. I can be honest with you and tell you though that the game really begins once your 50 so trying the 14 day trial will not give you a good enough idea of what the game is really about. There are several servers to choose from and you can have up to 8 characters per server. I hope this has helped you out.

I have played WOW for several months and yes its awful game. If you started your MMO experience from WoW it means you dont even understand how different can be a game with many players. So i suggest you to try old good UO. It have not best graphics but its awesome and deep game. It will hard to start, not a WoW but it will give you so much endless possibilities and so much interesting adventures. But please stay away from OSI. Play good free shard. Like Angel island. I dont have any personal interest by promoting it. Im not a member of staff and so on. I just love it with all my heart. I will never play WoW&Co. games again.
