MMORPG causes divorce for the married people or in relationship!!!

imageAccording to gamedaily news that  18% of divorce was cause by MMORPG in the US.Even though im not married or in relationship I fell sympathy to those people broke up with there wife or gf. I mean because of MMORPG!!! I think people who are addict in MMORPG should have control to themselves to keep the relationship tight, especially if you have a family. How could a person care for her loved ones only that he spend his time playing MMORPG than bonding with the family. If someone there has a problem or kinda similar like this you should consult to a counseling psychologist!!!! image

When I met my wife she didn't know what an mmorpg was, now she loves them. I turned her into a complete geek. ::::39::

Man you guys gotta tell me where you're finding these hot girls who like MMO and FPS. My g/f tolerated it alright, and I'd stop playing for her. But she dumped me the other day, so looks like I have a lot more time for gaming now.

I met my girlfriend on EQ.  Actually i met this guy about 5 years ago at the Ice Giants in Everfrost and we started talking.  Eventually i joined the guild he was in and we became good friends.  Shortly after meeting him i sent him a tell and i get "this is his sister" so we chatted a bit and that was that for about 4 1/2 years (except for the occasional chat) because she was in a relationship.  So not so long ago i get a tell from my friend saying his sister is single and i have his blessing (inside information 4tw) so i send her a tell and we start chatting.  Long story short - we're perfect for each other and life has never been so grand ( as you might have noticed from my lack of rants lately HAHAHA)

While there is little doubt that in most cases mmorpgs are hazardous to a relationship there are numerous people out there that have that dream girl.. one who plays the game along side of them.   Count me among the lucky!

Sometimes people grow apart and they are looking for an escape, MMOG's are the perfect place to escape to. They offer a new world where you need not be fearful in anyway and can spread your intellectual and spiritual wings. Then the spouse gets upset because their mate is spending so much time in game.

Well guess what, if it was the 70's it would have been golf or the bar or the football game, but now we have MMOG's so they can be to blame also. It all comes down to the relationship going south and you have to blame it on something besides yourself, because hey, you have to live with yourself.

Sometimes relationships end, people grow apart and get used to or tired of each other. MMOG's are no more to blame than a tiny white ball that you hit around a well kempt park.

Is this strictly an online relationship? Let us not forget what that did to Joel.

Can you please give me the link to the stat?  I have a hard time believing that 1/5th of all divorces in America are caused by MMORPGS.  Maybe 18% of all married couples that regularly play MMO's?

    Hear hear.

For one thing, it'd be the neatest thing ever if you met a girl toon that claimed to be a girl and you knew it was really a girl.

My wife and I played UO together for 2 of the 6 years I played it. Up till she joined she would always hassle me about how many hours I spent.... then after about 2 weeks of playing and pulling her first all nighter that went into like lunch time the next day.... she hugged me and said "ok now I get it".... Its been cool for us ever since.... shes not playing anything at the moment but shes mildly interested in DnL. She prefers PvE only... image

You could also say "how could someone dimiss their significant other's pastimes as being so meaningless that they would walk out of the relationship over it." The stuff cuts both ways, I mean what are you going to to do... Stop playing MMO's and go start knitting with her just coz thats what she likes to do.... Reality Check Bro.....

Bunch of crock its just a new excuse for someone too use when they need a reason for a divorce if its not the game id be something else stupid.

That stat is not even close to being in the realm of possibility. In fact, there is no way in the world 18% of divorced couples had at least one spouse per couple which played mmorpgs.

Maybe, just maybe, mmorpgs were the cause of the divorce for 18% of people who play mmorpgs and who are now divorced. Even that is hard to believe.

Hmmm, well my GF does not play MMORPGs, but she doesnt care. Thats why I like her image   anyways if a person would break up with another just becausee they play MMORPGs then i think that person is a jerk. Do they think that every who plays MMORPGs are geeks or something? I mean i play MMO's but I still skateboard and do lots of stuff with my friends. Personally, my advice to everyone is to go outside lol

So true, I mean it goes back to the old cliche "Well you knew I did this before we got married whats changed?"

For Example Man fishes...man meets woman who doesnt fish...man marries woman....woman gets bored/wants more in relationship/cheating on man or the ever popular /wants man with more money.......woman divorces man and tells judge he fishes too much....man left confused....woman is thinking of a new excuse to dump new man.

Maybe not to that extreme but if the excuse wasnt a video game I can get you it would of been another hobby her man does.

Its all about lack of communication really(yes all the TV shows and movies have embedded this theory in my head) if theres something wrong in the relationship talk about it and get it out in the air...don't just go firing your Divorce gun because you are completely oblvious to why the relationship is not working, im going to blame on his hobby.  In all honesty if The woman would of got the inside scoop why the game was addicting and offered suggestions or expressed how she feels when he plays I bet all the smoke will clear away or option "B" the husband will tell his wife "Who cares, I love this game, Go find another man" then YES they deserve a divorce and the man should marry his e-wife in game or in real life.

    problem isnt mmorpg's its women.

generally men have tons of various hobbys, games, sports, bars, and alot of women don't. tons of my women freinds have no hobby or anything they do with their life other than kids, work, pester their poor husbands.

i have a good friend(couple) who have a problem with this mmorpg thing. he tried teaching her tennis. golf. she has no interest. he takes her to mlb games or nhl games, but she does not want to go they are boring for her. he tried to get her to play mmorpg, she wont even sit down at the computer. he would call me and say call his wife and ask her to go out to the club, i do and she won't go , she doesn't drink anymore and cant stand smoke.
now she is miserable and gets mad at him and thinks its his fault for playing on the computer to much , but i sympathize what the hell is the guy supposed to do to make her happy?
the answer is probably make his own lilfe miserably boring to cater to her. not worth it.

Amen.  Unfortunately a lot of women I have met (NOT ALL)  are too shortsighted to see why someone would like games.  I almost lost hope on dating when I ran into so many aforementioned lame brained broads.  But  I don't have to worry about that anymore. image

yea there is NO, way that is correct. If you think about it is impossible for the number to be true. even if every MMO player (even those under 20) were to be married 4 times it still wouldn't be any where near 18% of the divorce rate.
