The community !!!

I am now in the 14 day trial and I must say this game seems different from the other mmo's that I have played.

After finally figuring out that the trainers were in the tree :) I was running around trying to figure out what to do next when I saw on the global chat a player asking if anyone needed help.

Seems that a veteran player created an alt on the newbie isle just to help and answer questions that new players may have.  Of course I bombarded him with questions and he was very patient and helpful.

The game is very different and I like the way the skill system is set up.  I have only played a few hours but I think I am hooked.

Now if I could just figure out stanzas... image

Yeah I saw loom on too :) Unfortunately by the time I saw him on giving out equipment to noobs I had already purchased a full set of 20 LA :) LOL.

Here's something I don't get. I like that the vets are friendly and all but what's with the almost obsessive visits to the noob island to make/give stuff away? And when you get to the mainland (my wife got there saturday) you get bombarded with 'help' from the vets.

Why all the attention? Matter of fact my wife said it was almost too much help. She was having a hard time learning the basics because the vets kept offering her equipment and such.

The game's community is centered around the Guild. I have seen a single comment all day in the mainland in regional chat, most of the commentary is in the guilds themselves.

Second, very soon is coming the Guild Outposts. In order to man them with adequate support, newer players will have to advance quickly.

Yes I agree, I already said I thought it important to once go through the game as much as possible just exploring so I know what's going on, and therefore I'm that much more effective. But, this is all about the needs of the guild, and their perception of the needs of the individual based upon the fact that the game is guild-centric. In that respect I trust their judgment. They have been around a year at least, I'm just getting started.

So right now there is some urgency, to recruit new players and get them set up with advancements to help out on the frontiers.

That's probably the reason why you see so many active right now to help new players.
