duped into buying DOF expansion

permsterpermster Member UncommonPosts: 102

Now I play EQ2 and actually happen to like it because it fit my playstyle.  That being said, I'm a bit ticked off at the new expansion pack.  Nowhere when I bought this off EBGames.com did it say it was geared towards lvl 45+.  There was one statement in there talking about epic encounters 45+, but not that the entire expansion pack was for high lvl.

I entered the main city and I'm like wtf...everything is high lvl.  This was a total surprise for me so I decided to do some research.  The ebgames site offers no explanation of what lvl's this expansion is geared towards, the sony site only mentions it way down at the bottom of the FAQ for the expansion.

To end this post, from what I've seen of the expansion pack it looks great.  I just don't appreciate the fact that it wasn't made clear that this was a high lvl expansion pack.  I'm only lvl 34 right now and I don't play all that often so it's going to take me forever to reap the benefits of this.

Pretty much sucks arse.  What do you think?

The DoF FAQ on eq2.com does imply that it is 45+ lvl requirement, but it also introduces PvP with the form of dueling, so this could be seen as for any lvl...  Make no mistake about it, SOE and EB games and all of the other money grabbers aren't sorry to see that you bought it...

Duped lol if you had done any research at all on the subject you would have known it was for levels 45+, but take heart: you can duel now and there are many improvements to the game because of the DoF expansion. Are you saying if you had known it was for level 45+ you would have waited to purchase it, or avoided it altogether? Then you have no one but yourself to blame, it's pretty obvious if you read the FAQ that it's mainly for level 45+. Even reading here at MMORPG.com people said that ad nauseam.

Take advantage of the double experience going on right now if you really wanna get to level 45 asap.image

There also have been several posts on this fourm about DoF and others mentioning that it was for level 45+. Now my toon is nowhere near level 45 but I am still going to buy it this friday.

Supposedly, xp before 50 was upped (generally, not just for the double xp week), so I'd say it won't take as much as you think.

I do agree, though, that the level range for the expansion wasn't advertised properly, although most gamers I know (self included) just assumed it'be for 45+ anyway.

    Currently playing:
    * City of Heroes: Deggial, Assault Rifle/Devices Blaster. Server: Defiant.
    * City of Villains: Snakeroot, Plant/Thorns Dominator. Server: Defiant.

You dont have to own DOF to duel. You can do 1-1s anywhere in the game. Till you reach 45 you will be able to use your voice emotes to impress us low-landies:):)

I was pissed too after watching their trailers that the guy would say for all levels to explore (which in my book means looking around and finding things to fight).

I find that pretty miss leading, but I still bought the expansion. (it is backordered on gamestop.com so i found you can digitaly download it for approx 29.99 online)

Funny, how I knew it was for 45+ the day I heard of the expansion...

Not trying to be harsh....but that's not SOE's fault. It was common knowledge it was 45+.

Sadly, i feel bad for you but you weren't really duped. you just made a mistake

    SUCKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yup, they sure as hell went out of their way to decieve the playerbase. image

In truth, if a potential buyer were to read virtually ANYTHING AT ALL about the expansion, they would clearly see that it is for 45 and up. I mean, no offense to the OP or anything, but simply doing nothing but reading the blurb that EB Games has up on their website isn't wise. I don't think I've ever bought a game without knowing what the heck it was first.

I'm really surprised I'm getting the shaft on this subject, even on this board.

You know when you buy an adventure pack of eq2 it says right on there that the content is for lvl's 20+ or for 30+.  But there was nothing like that for the expansion.  It only said way down at the bottom of the FAQ on the SOE site.  Oh but of course according to those that replied to my post, that was all my fault.  I should have read all the way through the FAQ and even researched the expansion on different websites.  That's total crap, they should have had it right on the main page that SOE had for the expansion.

Even on the actual case for the game if you go to buy it in a store, it doesn't say anywhere on the case what lvl's the expansion is intended for.  It does says "experiencing epic encounters crafted especially for levels 45 and up."  I took that to mean "some" of the encounters were epic in proportion, but the bulk of the expansion was for lower lvl.

I don't PvP so this expansion is worthless to me for a while.  Oh well, I'm done venting now.

Yeah I know how you feel, but at least there are a bunch of improvements to the game that came about because of the expansion. At least if you consider making the game challenging an improvement, some don't. Plust you get a genie in a bottle and a painting or a monkey hehe.

I have my monkey (Tokey) passed out next to the bottle (looks like a bong to me) on an end table. One look and you will know of Tokey's weed problem....poor Tokey.
