MMO's and society

There are lots of people out there who think that people such as us are losers, because we play online games that do refer to D&D. But, wouldnt you guys agree that if they ever tried one of these games that they would enjoy it too? I mean you cant tell me that getting together with a bunch of people to go and raid a castle or dungeon to kill a certain Elite/Boss to gain some sort of new equipment wouldnt be fun? Plus theres so much more that these games offer that are fun as heck, but sometime people are too blind with ignorance to see. I just think that some people should try these games out before they put it down.

Let me be the first to say:

I think "these games" is no longer an issue. About 50+% of the (American) population knows somebody who plays an MMOG of some sort... And does not criticize it.

The reason people think in the way you say, is cause they've had nobody explain it to them. I don't play WoW, I rather detest it. My good friend Frank plays WoW, he loves it. The Epic Tales he tells of his Instance Runs is interesting to listen to... and he tells them to more then just me.
Why don't people make fun of him or me? Cause we enjoy our hobby. And we treat it like a hobby. And there's more to convo then just that.

As a side note... I play tabletop as well. And I don't fear telling people anymore. People understand it's a hobby and you can be seperated from your hobby at sometimes.

The reason people are made fun of is cause they don't know how to seperate their hobby from their regular life.
