I'm making this poll only because i want to know if everybody goes pirate, which would suck.

    I chose english because I like them better than france or spanish and I figure there will be plenty of pirates to kill.

    Kind of sad that you can't play as the Dutch, so I guess I'm either going for England or for pirate.

    I've always liked pirates so I am going to start as a pirate... then probably go to Spain.  I have no idea yet.

    I'm going with my guild, which will be English or Spanish. We'll have a pirate 'alt' guild on a different server.

    Wow...I see a lot of people are opting for Pirate. I was going to choose pirate but after seeing those numbers I think I may join one of the less popular factions. It will be quite stupid if there are 5 times as many pirates as their are anything else.

    Nothing wrong with posting criticism, as long as it's constructive, meaning you offer reasons and possible solutions. One line "it suxors" posts don't carry any weight.

    Obviously many will choose pirate, and British will be popular which is why I am going Spanish. Everyone hates the French, for good reason.

    Dutch would be my first pick if available, since I plan on carving out a trade career mainly. Perhaps a future expansion will add them.

    IMO flying labs did a mistake when they added pirates as a faction. To earn the title as pirate you should work for it. Be in the part where you betray your country... kinda like eve. Every kid and thier moms will choose pirate =/

    But from this figure, it looks bad... really bad. But keep in mind, this survey is only based on 18 people and I've heard there is some polls on the official forum which should the factions will be even...

    While previously planning on going british, this poll as well as others has made me wonder if I should try Spain, afterall, being the underdog makes combat fun. I agree, the French will be a minority of fanboys and guilds trying to make a joke out of French.

    Change is inevitable, except from vending machines.

    Anyways.. If you go into a french store, many receptionists get offended if you speak english to them.. And a few months ago i met a young french couple here, in Denmark, and they spoke french to me...

    What I'm trying to say.. Many frenchmen don't give a shit about other countries while expecting we speak thier language both when visiting them and when they visit us..

    I don't say I hate them... I just don't like some of their egoistic ways of thinking and thier attitudes...

    And if you disagree with that you -do- need a history lesson.

    Americans are no different- rarely when traveling have I found many of us to have bothered to learn any level of the language. I'd be willing to bet it's like that across the board.

    Yeah maybe some americans don't bother learning others languages. But do they get offended if you try explaining youself in another language? And wouldn't we both agree, that english is the most spoken language in the world? We don't speak french on these boards, now do we?

    It's hard to explain youself on this subject since it's easy to generalise =/

    Points to note:

    1) I was saying that we -americans- owe the french alot.

    2) I hardly think your experience with one french couple is enough to sum up an entire country of people, especially when combined with a worldwide pressured contempt for French people. It seems a prejudgement. After all, having only met one Dane (who happened to be mentally disabled), wouldn't you be a little ticked if I referred to all danes as retarded?

    3) All this Nationalist bullshit- and the whole getting worked up over it- is stupid on both our parts. Europe gets in stupid little nationalist squabbles like this, and we americans laugh at it, then america goes and invades another country and looks like wave of idiots in the process, and europe gets to laugh at us. All the while, I stand back and shake my head. It all just seems childish.

    So, truce? :D

    I am french, and I have to say that I didn't think Americans hate french people.
    We try to speak english (I know it's not so good) and from my part i like America. If you want to hate us (for good reasons like you said) no problem but it's really a pity.
    One question: What's the problem? How you can judge an entire nation with two people. Don't worry, in France we have many stupid men, but in America you have'nt?

    And in the game, don't worry for us, there are many of us interested by PoBS to play the French.
    And we will enjoy playing with Americans (those who have'nt prejudices against French)

    And don't worry for my english but I try to improve me(and I don't think you try to learn French so who try to make an effort?)

    Think I will start off by trying the English.  All the countries listed have steep nautical history but I am leaning towards the Royal Navy.  (nothing against you Frenchies btw ))

    Actually, Mandarin Chinese is the most spoken language in the world, English is only the 4th.

    Im going to go for the 2nd most popular in the game (most likely English) so that I dont get killed everywhere I go, but I have plenty to kill::::40::

    I guess your right... I just think it's kinda wierd that you start your english leasons pretty late compared to other countries... Just makes me think that you don't really wan't to learn it...

    I've tried learning french for 4 years and I think I got many of my prejudgies from my teacher... She keep saying that if you don't say this or that right, frenchmen will get offended.

    Also I get annoyed from having to learn either french or german. Wouldn't it just be MUCH easier if we all could just learn english? Don't see the problem...
