Need Immediate Help on a Biology Essay

I'm almost finished writing an esssay for my AP Bio class but I have a question that I need answered:

What are some advantages the one-way digestive system of certain organisms have over the digestive system where waste products ooze out of the skin?

If this isn't answered by midnight (in about 10 minutes), then screw it, you guys can have fun discussing this tomorrow and make this a very long thread if you want.

 It's been a real long time since my AP and AP2 days in college but here it goes. Off the top of my head I would have to say it's what our excretory system does that makes it better for us. Take the Kidneys for example. They take Ammonia, which is a poisonous by product of protein metabolism, and breaks it down into a less toxic substance known as Urea.

 

 A simple organism such as an Amoeba does not break down it's waste. They use osmotic pressure to pass it into their enviroment.

 

  Also our excretory system helps with Osmoregulation. Osmoregulation being the body's way of maintaining a healthy level of water in the body. Our Kidneys play an important part in human Osmoregulation. At times when needed the kidneys will reabsorb water rather than excrete it thus helping to maintain the body's homeostasis.

 

  I hope that helps a bit. I did alot of partying in college and my memory sometimes fails me so that was the best I could do.

Well it's a bit too late now :P I already turned the essay in >.<

My biology class haven't gotten to human digestive systems yet. We're barely passed phylums which was what my essay was about.

I might have worded the question wrong... I was comparing organisms that have one-way digestive tracks with organisms that take their dumps through their skin. And I was trying to find out why different species have evolved to have different digestion habits.

Anyway, thanks for replying.
